The Adam Mark Hotel in St. Louis

My husband and I are going to a wedding in St. Louis over the Thanksgiving weekend and we booked a room at the Adam Mark Hotel, upgrading to a Club room. Any feedback on this property would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It's a nice place. Not in the luxury catagory, but pretty nice nonethless. The public areas are very pretty. The food service is good, especially the weekend international buffets. It's been a while since I've been there, but they used to have some nice lobby lounge entertainment. The rooms I've been in were OK, but not spectacular (though I've never seen the Club catagory). Do try to get a room overlooking the river/gateway arch. The hotel has one of the best views of the downtown waterfront. The Adam's Mark is in a good location for the downtown attractions. The arch grounds are just across the street. Laclede's Landing is nearby, as are both the football and baseball stadiums. Casino. It's also near the Metrolink, light rail line that can whisk you to some other interesting restaurant and shopping districts (Central West End, Delmar-U. City Loop, Union Station).

Thanks for the feedback, Joey!

I'll let you know how the Club rooms turn out and I've put in a request for an Arch/River view. We'll be there for a long weekend and will probably check out some of your recommendations as well.

No problem. Keep in mind that St. Louis' attractions are not concentrated downtown like your hometown lakefront/loop etc. Especially weekends, it might be kinda slow down there. But, as I said, you can hop on the Metrolink (which is clean and safe) and head to some more happenin' areas. The Central West End (CWE) is a great area for restaurants. It's also adjacent to Forest Park, which is home to the city's fine (and free) zoo, art museum, science center, and more. The Delmar-University City "Loop" area is a strip of eclectic shops and ethnic restaurants. Also a great "art movie" theatre. Union Station (the old passenger train shed) is now a mall. Kinda touristy, but still a fun place to spend some time. If you have a car, some other favorite areas include the antique shops down on Cherokee Street, authentic Italian grocery stores and restaurants in "The Hill" neighborhood, a cluster of good Vietnamese restaurants on South Grand Avenue, and the Soulard (farmers) Market. Also, The Missouri Botanical Garden is great for any gardener.
