Cab from airport would be somewhere around $40+.
That is great advice Thank You.

I just saw that the Clark/Lake (blue line) is a mile or 3 mins from the Doubletree,so that looks like a great taxi ride.

My friend is actually staying at the Westin in Rosemont from Monday to Wednesday and was actually my first choice so she would not have to move her luggage around too much, but she and I agree to stay in the city.

Westin Rosemont is walking distance from Rosemont CTA, so if you stay there Thursday night you can easily get to the station in the morning and/or walk there Sunday night after a stay in the city. There are other hotels very close to either Rosemont or Cumberland CTA stop.

The way this winter has been going you should be fine walking around the city in early March. Pack some layers and waterproof shoes/boots.

Well at first our plans were to stay in Rosemont for her benefit (bigger luggage) and we can just use the train everyday into the city (which I do not mind) but she might.

I am actually leaning into staying Thursday in Rosemont & then Friday & Saturday in Chicago.

Thanks legalalien

It's really tough to say. There is no snow on the ground at all right now, but we're supposed to get some in the next couple of days. Realistically, it'll only be tough to walk around if we get a bunch of snow while you're here (or an absolute dumping a day or two before). Loop/River North/Mag Mile get cleared pretty quickly after a snow.

Would you suggest I wear hiking shoes (boots) then tennis shoes?

I usually wear Adidas shoes (casual).

Check the weather the day before you come in to see. Usually tennis shoes would be fine, but if it's recently snowed, boots might be better in case of snow and ice

Metered parking isn't too hard to find in neighborhoods in the North or Far North Side.

Where have you gone in Chicago in the last year or two outside the loop that it was difficult to find a meter? That's the side effect of our bad meter deal, rates are high enough that people won't pay them.

agreed.

I almost always find a space within a few storefronts of where I want to be, never more than 1.5 blocks.

Loop can be more of a challenge but still much better than it was.

Even though my company pays for garage parking, I pride myself on treating my expense money as it were my own (meaning being a cheap arse & finding on the street parking).

Agreed. The way meter rates are rising, it's getting easier to find parking. I found a space (no waiting, others available) on Randolph just west of Canal at noon yesterday with no effort. North side, no problem. Now, non-metered parking is getting more difficult to find.

CTA w/ a bit of Taxi

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to mention that I had a wonderful time using the CTA this last few days, rather then renting a car,CTA was great!

Before leaving,my city adventure partner opted to use a Taxi from the Doubletree Hotel on Ohio to Westin O'Hare, damn did that trip take long and was under $40 (glad I did not pay for it). CTA would have been faster IMO.

Again, had a great time using CTA,I hope to anyone visiting that you would use it also.

Thanks Again Everybody for your input and advise,All Appreciated.

Sal
