When the lower level gates on Concourse D were being actively used, there would always be one or two people stretched out in the seating areas, napping.

Several weeks after Frontier down-sized, I took the escalators and people movers on D just to see what was still down there. I was surprised to see the televisions on and employees relaxing (perhaps using it as a break area?). I wonder how much energy the county could save by closing it down; perhaps they will consider it as part of the consolidation.

The moving walkway on the lower level can be helpful for reaching the D hammerhead more quickly. I imagine the DL customers will want it kept open once they move from E to D. I know a couple posters on this board have remarked that they will miss the short walk they currently have on E.

Did we loose MKE-MCO? Is that seasonal now? Looking for it in May and don't see it. I did notice that MSN-DCA is still there (on sale $85 each way before CHOICE promo).

Yes -- several Orlando markets operating this winter are being suspended in spring. A few MCO routes will remain into summer in addition to DEN, but not MKE.
Frontier's business plan includes more seasonal variation to coincide with traffic peaks and valleys than it once did. And with MKE being just another spoke (no connecting traffic nor large passenger base) it's not surprising that MKE-MCO is being handled much like other point-to-point Florida flying. |
Never fear, though, Delta is coming to the rescue (again) and beginning Feb 16th will begin nonstop MKE-MCO. Now if only they'd bring back MKE-OMA, then we'd be in business.

I believe DL MKE-MCO will operate only on Saturdays, just thru spring break. |
www.mitchellairport.com has added a guide to its nonstop flights http://www.mitchellairport.com/airli...erved-nonstop/,
as well as an interactive route map showing nonstop options http://mke.innosked.com/(S(bx220rn0x...)/Default.aspx. |
Cool...it appears to be the very same map and technology that AirTran uses on their website.

Probably other carriers, as well. |
For those interested it appears the new 7R observation lot is now open, at least for the last week or so I have driven past it. Additionally I am hearing Feb 22 for the Delta move D.

For those of you still playing along. UAX is still using some gates in the E concourse. (E62/63). Since they're needing those for overflow I wonder where they're going to go. WN pretty much has the rest of C, and AA has the two gates immediately across from UA. Could this signal that they're going to move to D sooner than later? Kinda strange since they've begun consolidating into C.

Traffic down 21% in 2012
Anybody who frequents MKE knew this was going on...
http://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee...ercent-at.html Connecting pax down 50%. The carriers killed so many connections with their revised schedules. |
