Traditionally, way back when (pre-9/11) YX used to 1) serve meals on pretty much any flight over 1.5 hours -- I've had filet and lobster and 2) before noon, free champagne and after noon free white and red wine.
Most flights used to be 2x2 seating on a plane that traditionally would be a 2x3 plane.
Today it's different--lots more 'saver service' flights that have BOB meals. Buying drinks is pretty much the same as other carriers now.
Now they offer buy-on-board meals that, I think, are better than what you can get on any other airline--but you still have to pay.
Warm chocolate chip cookies are still given out on most flights, but that's it.
I truly miss the 'old' days. They still are a great airline, but, for me, have lost a lot of luster in the last few years.

Delayed by how much? I've flown on 4 YX flights--single trip out and back. All 4 were delayed .5-1 hrs and we never got drinks. No complaints though, it was one of the best values I have ever had for my trips.

I was disappointed to get a plastic fork with my BOB meal. The fork was so blunt that it wouldn't pierce the steak or the carrots, so I had to eat with my fingers. What's up? Midwest had metal forks after 9/11 (only the knives were plastic) so I don't think it's a security issue. Normally I have only the highest praise for Midwest, this is my first complaint.
