Egypt layover in light of recent developments in the area

I am flying BOM-CAI-JFK via Egypt Air in J on August 4th. The layover time in CAI is 21 hours and I was planning to go do some local sightseeing with a tour guide.

In light of the recent developments in the area, i am concerned about the risk of getting stuck in BOM or CAI due to flight cancellations given Egypt's proximity to the area. Looking at Flightaware, Egypt Air's BOM-CAI route does not fly over Israel or Lebanon.

Is there a possibility flights get cancelled or will they just get rerouted to avoid the conflict area? I am trying to determine if it makes sense to reroute myself proactively.

Your flights might be rerouted, which could make your first leg from BOM to CAI longer. In the highly unlikely event that the current situation escalates into Egypt, your flights might be canceled, and you would be rebooked on another airline. However, this is an extremely rare scenario as I mentioned. As of now, Egypt remains safe to visit, so I recommend proceeding with your plans.
