Jordan Private Guide

Highly recommend using Jordan Direct Tours.
We were in Jordan for three days and used this company. Communication before our trip was excellent. On day 1 the driver picked us up on the Jordanian side of the northern crossing, took us to Le Meridien in Amman. On day 2 he picked us up at the hotel and drove us to Jerash. He gave us the entry tickets and handed us over to a guide. Following Jerash, he drove us to the Marriott in Petra. On day 3 he had a taxi driver pick us up at the hotel and drive us to the Petra entrance. The taxi driver gave us our entry tickets and then turned us over to a guide. Following the tour of Petra, the driver picked us up and drove us back to Le Meridien.
The driver was extremely attentive to our needs, took care of all details and even gave us a cell phone with his number programmed in just in case we needed to contact him. In addition, price was reasonable.
If you are planning a trip to Jordan, contact Jordan Direct Tours and request Younes Ramman as your driver.

One other thought on our trip. We did not have much trouble crossing from Israel to Jordan using the northern bridge. Our Israeli guide dropped us off at the entrance to the bridge on the Israel side. We then went to two customs windows and had our passports stamped and purchased Jordanian currency. (There is a fee. So this wasn't the most inexpensive way for obtaining dinars. However, we decided it would be better to have some Jordanian currency just in case we had a problem in Jordan). We then waited about 15 minutes and took a bus across the bridge. Once on the Jordanian side we went to a window to purchase Jordanian visas and then to a second window to have our passports stamped. After this we went outside and met our Jordanian guide. Overall time for crossing was 1 1/2 hours. There were very few people crossing when we went. So YMMV.

We used Jordan Select Tours earlier this month and were very pleased. Our driver, Ibrahm Smadi, was excellent. For a description of our itinerary, see this thread:

We flew in and out of Jordan, so didn't deal with the Israeli crossing.

For those who have visited, what did you think of Petra? Is it as amazing as I've been told?

Yes it is and it's so much more than just the Treasury which is on all the pictures. It's not overrated. with many things i have Always that it disappoints; maybe i have seen to much. but with Petra i not had that feeling at all.

some photos if you not believe me: http://www.christravelblog.com/jorda...f-stone-petra/

if you go, let me know what you think of it! for sure take 1.5 days there to see the main things. If you are into hiking there are trails which can take up to 4-5 days to see, but then its also more nature.

I wish I had more time. But we just did a 3 day Jordan add-on to our Egypt trip. We'll be able to do a lot of cool things in Jordan but nothing in great detail. Jerash, Wadi Musa, Petra, Dead Sea Float, and a couple other things...

Another time maybe. A good Jordan roadtrip to see all, taste the local, takes 2 weeks. But then you also finish really all.
