USPS Mailboxes in IAD?

Sorry all, I do realize this is off-topic, but I can't find a better place for it. If there is one and I'm missing it, let me know!

Question: is there anywhere in IAD to drop off some mail to be sent? I've got a stack of envelopes, stamped and good to go, and am about to fly out of the country for 90 days. Any help much appreciated!

According to this post, there are mailboxes in the main terminal outside of baggage claim. Note - this is outside of security and you will need to reclear if you are in transit.

I'll move this to the Mid-Atlantic Forum so other travellers familiar with IAD can asssit.

Just to confirm--I did use the mailboxes mentioned above in December when I was at IAD. Go behind the florist shop in the baggage claim area.

In the past, I've had success asking the Traveler's Aid folks to post letters for me. They staff two desks outside security in baggage claim and one desk inside security on the upper level of the main terminal just beyond security screening.

That's great advice to ask 'Traveler's Help' at IAD.

I am peeved that they don't have a mailbox behind security at Dulles, but since it's my home airport, i'm somewhat lucky - since I don't have to mail stuff out too often.

However, I've also gotten good luck from various sources within the airport - from the centre desk at ICN (no mailboxes that I found) to the BA Terraces front desk matron at SEA then to countless *A lounge attendants in BRU, FRA, MUC

But, all in all, I prefer the bunches of mailboxes in ORD that I always see - that's how most of the US airports should be!

Same here. But when I used those mailboxes two summers ago, the delivery took so long that my letter might have reached its recipient faster if I'd mailed it from my travel destination. Which, that day, was Beijing.

Hopefully I'm the unlucky exception to the rule here...
