Bigguy - Did you take this trip yet? Let us know how it went, what you did, and where you decided to stay...

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!
I'd love to hear too! We're taking our first trip to DC in March and are trying to prioritise what we want to do/visit. We'd love to visit the White House but the only way seems to be by contacting your COngressman. As we're travelling from Ireland it seems that we'll have to cross that off our list

I know that some tours have to be pre-booked so that's on the agenda for this week...are any tours included as part of a trolley-tour package?

We're in DC for 4 days and aren't hiring a car so it'll be the more centrally located buildings and exhibits that we'll get to see.

Getting excited already!

The Embassy used to handle stuff like that, but I don't believe they do these days. However, I seem to remember someone telling me they'd arranged for a Pentagon tour through the Embassy of Ireland. Their website probably has a link to "visiting washington, dc" or something like that.
And you never know---if your TD or council member has a connection in an office here they might be able to work something out regarding a WH tour. All it takes is a phone call to a Rep here and you'd be on the list. (the reverse worked for me on international trips)

...now you've got me thinking!
I don't personally know anyone high enough in political life to swing something like this for me...but have a couple of acquaintances who do. Just a case of finding the right opening to ask!
