Ellicott City to DC

Hi everyone, I'm doing an East Coast trip in June, working in DC for 3 days (Monday-Wednesday) and was planning on staying with a friend who lives in Ellicott City. I'm trying to determine the best way to get down to DC from there w/o a car. Are there any MARC stations in Ellicott City? Any buses/other transit that would connect me to Metrorail? Any know-how from the locals would be appreciated. Thanks!

There are a few commuter bus lines that start in that general vicinity and run into DC, connecting with different Metrorail stations. Check here, specifically, the 915, 929, and 995 lines.

The nearest MARC station is Dorsey, on the Camden Line. Howard Transit Silver Line goes there (and to BWI Rail Station on the Penn Line as well).

Howard County transit runs buses that stop at the Dorsey Road station but depending on where you are staying, you could very likely need to take a cab to one of the bus stops. It will be a very slow option regardless. It might be a good idea to rent a car just so you can drive yourself to the train station.
