It's a hot sauna. I went to a wedding down there during the Independence Day holiday weekend a few years back. Heat index was over 110 degrees. Even though the reception was at the Williamburg Inn which is lovely, it wasn't worth the torture. If you must go there, go to water parks or head to the coast....unless of course you thrive on such hot weather.

Nice place but can be quite opressive in the summer. My first visit was in an August about 200 PM. I believe the temp was 96 deg and the humidity was 96%. If you absolutely gotta do it I suggest you visit as early in the day you can. I suggest visits are more comfortable in May and Sept now.

I agree with those. You'll want to be out early in the AM, go somewhere air conditioned for the afternoon, and can head back out in the evening.

Please see Virgina Suggestions in this thread for more info on Williamsburg. It can be very hot for those not used to it. But the historic buildings are all air conditioned ( for comfort as well as for the furnishings, which must be kept at a constant temperature ) and there are several taverns and places to get drinks. If you're worried about the heat, Busch Gardens is a killer....go early or late. Late is actually more fun, I think. If you like barbeque, try Pierce's, about 15 minutes outside Williamsburg proper. It's a local thing and really good. Have a great time!!
