Great takeout in DC?

Hi all,

Looking for something like London's Ottolenghi - in DC. Any chance of it, or am I stuck with the usual shawarmas, pizzas and pad Thai?

Thanks!

Most decent DC restaurants actually do takeout, although they don't advertise it. So, pick what you want, call & ask.

i could not find a menu at London's Ottolenghi . as far as take out, wholefoods and harris teeter and trader joe have carryout that looks mor extensive than London's Ottolenghi . almost every ethnic restaurant(over 1000 to choose from) there regular menu is on line and will prepare it to go.

DC has some of the best take-away Ethiopian in the US, as well as pretty much every other ethnic food you'd care to eat. Depending on where you're staying, delivery is generally an option, too.

Just perusing the website of Ottolenghi, the closest I can think of in DC is Dean & DeLuca, in Georgetown (http://www.deandeluca.com/). No idea if they deliver, though.

If you are looking for food to be delivered, consider foodler.com and grubhub.com for extensive menu aggregator sites.

There are lots of good options for picking up food, but I'm presuming you don't want to trek across the city; a location would be good. Also check donrockwell.com for extensive reviews of places across the city.
