Tolls on I-95
You should know to avoid the toll booth at the DE/MD border by taking Elkton Road
In baltimore you have the 95 and 895 tunnels with toll booths. $4 each way. The only way to avoid a toll would be to take I-695 north which would add about 30+ miles to the drive--the same in gas as it would cost you for the tolls.
After baltimore ---you would travel the beltway north of DC into Virginia then get on the dulles airport access road which would not have a toll.
495 in Virginia has a HOT lane you want to avoid as a solo driver.
You go on 267 parallel highway you will have tolls.
How long will the drive be? it depends on when you do this drive.
Its a little over 80 miles on I-95
20 miles on I-495
15 miles on Dulles toll road to the airport
total about 115 miles--drive about 2 hrs.
If you are hitting Pm rush hour in DC or in baltimore this drive will be longer by about 2 hrs.

While there are tolls, it's less than $10 for the entire ride. Whiskey tango foxtrot is a "bright fee"?

Interesting, Maryland likes to let you come in for free and charge you to leave. The "other" 301 toll bridge, the Harry Nice bridge across the Potomac, only charges a toll south bound into VA.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge (actually Rt. 50, not 301 as stated up-thread) used to have terrible mile-long backups in the summer with everyone trying to get back from the beaches so they did the same there - double the toll and only charge it on the (arguably) least disruptive side.

After a couple of hours in MD, I'm more than happy to pay for the pleasure of leaving.

Going south, be sure to get on I95 at Elkton Road.
The Susquehanna bridge toll is for I-95 north only.
In Baltimore, you can either take I-695 around the north side of Baltimore which takes a while and adds a lot of mileage or take I-95 all the way into Baltimore; exit at Eastern Avenue. Pass through Little Italy to Lombard Street. Once you hit Lombard, you can join I-395 south back to I-95 and you're off to the DC area. No tolls beyond that as the Dulles Access Road is toll free for airport users.
