Angry Parking BWI

I have to go on a last minute trip to DAY, and I am departing from BWI. It's been many years since I have used that airport. Any recommendations re: parking?

Many Thanks

Moving this post to the DC/Baltimore forum, where it should get more visibility, and probably more responses.

Thanks!

Tons of parking @ BWI. Maps on the airport website and the parking is well-marked as you approach. As you would expect, incredibly convenient but more expensive lot just across from the terminal and dirt cheap but 10 minute kettle bus away.

Convenient parking is the sole plus of BWI, so enjoy....

I settled on Fast Park. They get you to the terminal quickly and often the shuttle follows you to the spot as you enter. There are two lots; doesn't make much of a difference. http://www.thefastpark.com/location/baltimore-blue/

In the old days I used to park at the main terminal garage at $30/day, which meant that a 28 hour business trip would amount to $60.

Appreciate your advice and comments.

Sorry for the frown.

I was a bit frustrated in trying to get a nonstop flight on the weekend to CVG area either from MDT or PHL at a decent price, which are much closer to get to from where I live than BWI. It is good to know that the parking situation is superior.

Regards

You should note that all parking, save for hourly, requires a 5-10 minute shuttle ride from the garage/lot to the terminal. They are generally fairly reliable, but I have had some fairly substantial waits on occasion.

you're going from a nowhere airport to a nowhere airport, and the world is against you because you cannot get a cheap nonstop? beat up bwi parking? kick a dog??i have heard cvg is an expensive airport, and mdt should be closed. many airports with 15 flights a day are very expensive.

it's captain kirk time again.

I can confirm brendog's observation. I've had some 30 minute waits to get from some parking. seems like forever.

I park in the Daily Garage -- I generally have not had to wait more than a few minutes for a shuttle in that lot.

I use PreFlight parking at both BWI and PHL. Join their frequent parking club and you can earn points towards free parking. It doesn't take long to get free parking. When you enter the lot, they tell you exactly which section to park in, and the shuttle knows you going there. We never have to wait more than 2 or 3 minutes for a shuttle. Plus, the facility at BWI is fairly new and huge. AND, if you are member of their frequent parking club, they will take you even if they are full up. They also have on-line coupons for parking discounts.

I am not an employee of PreFlight, so please don't think this is the reason I sound so positive, but I've never had a problem with them, and only wish they were at EWR and JFK.

I only park at BWI a few times a year, but when I do I usually use Preflight. They've been good for years -- and I measure "good" in airport parking by speed of pick up and drop off.

That said, I'd consider someone else if there were a significantly better deal. I've got a short trip next week and I googled for "free day coupon" at BWI, but didn't find any. I think Preflight is only about $8/day including tax, though.

No one has mentioned BWI's express lot, which is the way I always go. $10/day, pick up at your car by a shuttle as soon as you get out of your car, and closer than any of the off-site places. Plus, there is next to zero wait upon your return - there are always express lot shuttles driving past, whereas you could be waiting a while for shuttles for some of the other lots.

Sounds decent. I just booked preflight with a prepaid deal and it's about $7/day all in. Preflight is pretty decent; I'm not sure the BWI Express lot would be faster.
