Zola, arcadina, georga brown, luigino are not really cheap eats in my mind. for cheap eats, try looking at

Instead of zagats use the washingtonian's cheap eats list - I have found some gems in there

Hard Times Cafe. Great chili (and if you tell them it's your first time, they bring you a sampler platter!), burgers, ribs, wings etc.

Good and cheap places near metro stations:

Kabob Palace in Crystal City
Vace italian carryout deli in Cleveland Park with good subs and pizza by the slice
Teaism near Dupont Circle, Farragut North/West and Chinatown metros
