Bienvenido to the Cancún International Airport / CUN master thread. Please feel free to add observations and suggestions, naturalmente. And you can also PM the original poster as a way to call attention to something in the original post that needs modification or change. ¡Gracias!

Link to ASUR official Cancún International website in English (mostly useless, lists arriving and departing flights)

Link to fake Cancún International Airport website (useless and grossly outdated)

See post #1 in this thread for more extensive information.

Transport:

Most recommend arranging transport in advance; see the thread in limos, taxis, transfers here. The airport authorized taxis are charitably described by some as a "taxi mafia", and unless you know how to deal with this ilk avoid them. Uber/Lyft is not allowed to pickup at the airport, although they can dropoff.

N.B. Members are reporting lengthy delays checking in (high demand times suggest 2.5-3.0 hours prior to departure) and delays on arrival for immigration and customs, particularly during high traffic times / high season. This can vary according to demand - spring break, Christmas plan for long lines.

Travelers from the USA no longer need to complete an FMM form on arrival, just the passport and flight# is enough to get through immigration.

Heads up, just got this email from our transfer shuttle addressing our upcoming arrival into CUN

Dear Travelers,

We thank you very much for selecting our destination to enjoy your holidays.

We all in Cancun are experiencing involuntary inconveniences caused by the unexpected closing of streets from time to time due to the workings of highway loop infrastructure which gives access to the airport streets, the Riviera Maya road, Cancun Hotel Zone, and Cancun Downtown streets.

Getting to your accommodations is very important to us to relax from traveling, however, it might be possible for waiting times upon arrival at the airport or traffic delays for those returning back. You can be sure we are taking action and doing our best by providing options to complete the service in a timely manner but daily operations might vary.

The new highway loop is one of four major infrastructure works our state is going through to improve travelers' and locals' mobility in the near future, but for now, our State Governor is asking for patience from travelers and airport users.

We appreciate your understanding,

Sincerely,

You can safely ignore that email. The information is outdated. The airport roadway project has been completed for some time. I received a similar dire email from my transport company warning about many hours of delays entering/exiting the airport. But when I arrived, the roadways were pristine and totally free of construction. The driver said the construction ended months ago, but they haven't gotten around to stopping those automatic emails to clients.

Hey all, just wanted to share my experience with CUN with UAL. Arriving was super easy. Had a teenager with us so we had to use line 2-3 for customs. Line moved quickly (<10 min wait). Chokepoint was baggage claim. Thankfully, the staff brought out baggage tagged priority first! No paperwork needed for entry / exit. If you don't have kids, go to the left and use the automated passport kiosks. Do not use line 1. Another dude tried but was denied. I do not know what paperwork you need but does not matter as you will need to wait for your checked luggage (if any) and your airport transfer.

For departure ... literally no wait for premier access. Make sure your taxi driver drops you off at the first door at Terminal 3. You will see a guy in CUN uniform with UAL necklace and tag and he checks your passports before you can see the UAL agents at the check-in desk. Skip the computers near "step 1" signs and go all the way to the right. Whole thing took 5 min. Checkpoint took only few min too. We zig zagged the lines!

As I have Amex Plat, we used the Mera business lounge. Got on waitlist, 45 min later, we get in, it is quite hot inside. There is a bartender and some basic food offerings. Wi-Fi is fast. The WAP has Wi-Fi 6 and speed is up to 300/300 Mbps (or 37 Megabytes per second) which is the real main benefit of the lounge.

Got on zone 1 and in our seats on the plane back home Cheers
