Easter in Ixtapa

We are traveling to Ixtapa for the first time over Easter and staying at Capella. Are there any special events going on for this holiday?

Also, would you recommend renting a car to get to and from the hotel and down to Zihua or taking taxis?

No special Easter events, but be aware that Easter-time ('semana santa') is a PRIME holiday period in Mexico (all schools off) and every beach town, especially so Ixtapa since it's the closest one to MEX, will be jam-packed.

Ixtapa nor Zihuatanejo are the closest beaches to Mexico City. Acapulco and Veracruz are closer, and there are others. Drive time, I'm referring to. But you're right, Semana Santa brings out people in large numbers. Prices for everything rise. There's a lot more congestion. It can be dirty and noisy. But Ixtapa is more upscale, a created environment as compared to "natural" and though it should be busy it'll be manageable.

A good spot to cross-post questions about events and some other things, like restaurants, is found at: http://www.zihuatanejo.net/tablero/
