Tonight, I made a reservation for late January using MR points I don't have - my balance is about 7000, but its for a 20,000 award. I chose the option to book now, issue certificate later.

As I understand the big note - I cannot ask my friend to issue a 20k award for me since I booked the rez, correct? Or can they just have an e-cert issued in my name?

In the past, she has made the reservation and issued the e-cert in my name, both at same time, without problem. Will we get hung up this time b/c I booked the award myself?

Alternately, I have two questions of advice. If, in fact, this will be a problem, can:

a. We combine points in any way, take my 7000 and her 13000 to get a cert?
b. Any suggestions on how to get the 13000 into my account other than spend $170 or so as MR suggested?

For an e-certificate to work properly the account number on the reservation should match the account number of the account the certificate is issued from. If your account number is on the reservation the best way to handle this is to call Guest Services and request a point transfer. They will take your reservation information and prepare a point transfer form, which they can either fax or mail to you. Once both you and your friend have signed the form and faxed it back Guest Services will facilitate the point transfer and issue the reward electronically. You will receive email confirmation when the process is complete.
