Internet Access - what does it mean?
I reserved a room in Paris and my details stated:
Deluxe Room, 1 King or 2 Twin beds, Room only, High speed internet access, Room service 6.30am to 11pm
Does this mean Internet Access is included in the rate? The hotel states it is not and that if I want free Internet Acess that they could upgrqde me to a suite for 65 Euro more. I am Gold status but there are no free upgrades here either. Thanks in advance for your help.

Most hotels are like this. i.e. it states that internet access is available, but you have to pay for it!
As you are gold though - lounges often have a PC or 2 for free internet access.

Thanks. As this is a Courtyard they have no lounge. They do however have a business office in the lobby but this is not a free service either. Oh well, I guess I'll have to ante up if I want to be able to get on the Net.

I've seen the reservation text like that often and wondered if internet access was included. So I've been there too. What I have found is that if you don't see the word "free" in front of internet access, then it usually isn't included in the rate.
BTW, did you check to make sure there is no CL? The reason I ask is that I've seen a few non-NA CYs that did in fact have CLs. Basically, the CY seemed be a FS Marriott. So maybe there is a lounge hidden away somerwhere.

If in-room internet is a must for you, you may consider giving that 65 euro upgrade a second look. Perhaps you can negotiate it down a bit. I've spent 25E and higher for in-room internet in Paris Marriotts.
