Post Fall megabonus 2008 - Offers & Details

Well,

Just got through a mail about what looks like the fall megabonus. Seems a little bit less than last year but I suspect I haven't got the full offer as my offer was for only 20 nights not 25.

My offer (Platinum) was;

Get Your 35,000 MegaBonus Points!
Put your dream holiday in motion

Register: Online or call your local Guest Services office
Stay: At Marriott properties: 15 Sept 2008 - 15 Jan 2009
Earn: 35,000 bonus points when you stay 20 nights total
paid with your Visa card
The actual sign up url I got is targeted but the generic url works;
http://www.joinmarriottrewards.com/megabonus/mgf8/

It might be targeted only at outside of the US however as the contact numbers are only for EMEA/AsiaPac/Japan/South America

So, what is the best offer, hopefully MR will let me trade up this year (like I did last)

lv

Talking And the urls...

EDIT: Even if you click 'register' here they are not going to track -- And this has been confirmed by the Marriott Concierge -- - you'll have to go to the generic url and register (and get the promotion you were going to get anyway), but, this the links below are useful information if you want to get the platinum line to upgrade your promotion, or just be aware of the other offers out there.

And after signup (which doesn't appear to be automatic, so I fill in my name, email address and rewards number) you get through to the moneyload which is....

(Change the final letter, T, S, P etc)

50k points

Earn: 35,000 Marriott Rewards points when you stay a total of 20 Visa-paid nights, plus an additional 15,000 points when you stay a total of 25 Visa-paid nights.

25k points

Earn: 25,000 Marriott Rewards points when you stay a total of 15 Visa-paid nights, plus an additional 10,000 points when you stay a total of 20 Visa-paid nights.
25k over 15 of stays
http://www.joinmarriottrewards.com/m...lt.aspx?l=&s=r
5,000 Marriott Rewards bonus points for every third Visa-paid stay you make – up to a total of 25,000 points.
25k over 11 stays
http://www.joinmarriottrewards.com/m...lt.aspx?l=&s=r
2,500 Marriott Rewards bonus points for every Visa-paid stay, starting with your second stay – up to a total of 25,000 points.
I tried the whole alphabet and these are the ones that I found. Guess you can guess I'm going for the 50k one!

The FAQ / Terms links still seem to refer to the American Express meeting promotion.

It also hasn't come through instantly onto my promotions page... I suspect that I might have to ask to switch to the correct bonus scheme based on pressing 'register' even on an account that hadn't signed in said 'you've registered - we shall see!

Again with the Visa requirement
That is fine-I did the 30k promo this summer(No stupid Visa requirement)
I was hoping MI was starting to be less greedy-but since greed is in it's foundation I guess it is just The Marriott Way.
Pity.

Oh and LITTLEVOICES-fantastic work! Thanks for posting all of the work you did above. You are a great Flyertalker!

I went for the top - 50k - now I need to make a concerted effort to hit the 25 night number. It'll be tight considering I can't totally ignore my other hotel chains.

Thanks for the great work littlevoices!!^

Whoa!

5 seconds into it, and I'm registered for 50K! Sweet!

Now ... what do I have to do? FT rule#17b: Register now. Figure out the details later.

OK, so I clicked on the "register now" link for the 50K promo, which took me to a "congratulations, you're registered" page.

I was expecting them to ask for my MR number, but they didn't. I wasn't logged in either.

I checked my "My Promotions Progress", and it wasn't listed there either.

So I went to another computer in the office, cleared the cache on the browser, emptied cookies, made sure nobody was remembered on marriott.com, and tried clicking the link again... Same result: "you're registered".

The short of this is: even though it's sending you through to the "you're registered" page, it's not taking any personal information for you to have registered. Ipso facto, you're likely NOT registered even though you clicked the link.

I'd keep trying back until they have fixed their error.

YMMV...

My expereince too. Did it on a PC I normally don't visit Marriott on. But thanks for the links, I'm sure it will all work out in the end.

PS - I did it the long way too, going to the generic URL and giving my info but was only brought to the 35k page. And no mention of it in the promo tracker.

Perhaps we are all jumping the gun? But a great find none the less, thanks.

My thoughts on this, maybe registration won't show up until the Summer PowerUp promotion completes on Aug 31. Didn't we have that same problem with the PowerUp not showing up until the Spring Megabonus was completed?

Also, as with the Spring MegaBonus, MR might allow Platinums to call and select the Fall MegaBonus option that they wish? I've not tried this yet.

Well.

I went through the generic url, and after taking my info, I got 5k every three stays, 25K max. Hmmph.

I think I'll wait until the current promo winds down and then give the plat line a call.

A "Marriott Visa requirement"?

Wouldn't that, on the surface, be self-defeating inasmuch as it would encourage people with other cards (or mandated to use cards nin-Visa cards) by their employer to competing chaings?

Sure, Marriott wants the business but this has a "Visa tilt" to it more than Marriott. After all,no one knows what is the % of the "bite" that appears on folios.

Not to say that Marriott is disinterested (highly, highly, unlikely) but they're hardly the first to be involved in CC tie-in promotions.

AA/Citi seems to be the master of that.

I have tested the links provided by littlevioces in his second post. They do show the other targeted offers but will not enroll you into the Megabonus promotions. These links take you to the wrong side of the login page, meaning they are not capturing any account information.

If you would like to enroll in the Megabonus promotion, the link provided in littlevioces first post will work. There is no way, I am aware of, to register for a targeted offer, other than the one you were solicited for, on the website because all accounts are already set up in the mainframe system with your solicited offer. When you register you are just activating that solicited offer already attached to your account. It will not matter if you go through a link explaining a 25 thousand point offer or the 50 point offer when the registration hits your account it will activate your solicited offer.

Thanks, Ira ^ Do you know when it will show up on our MR account page? I've registered from the email received.

I got 2500 for each Visa-paid stay, starting with the second stay, with a maximum of 25000 points.

I would say 24 to 48 hours. But since I am not sure I will test this and let you know if it is different.
