This current year, I've been technically at a Towneplace Suites for 99 continuous nights with instant check in and out (for billing purposes) every week. For the purposes of the Spring megabonus, it counted each billing week as a separate stay.

This requires enrolling as a new member. Hilton allows you to combine duplicate accounts online so that the highest status account is retained and has all of the points from the original account. Is there any way to do this with Marriott? With few Marriott stays last year, I am only Silver and would like to have gold for an upcoming stay.

I don't know if they'll combine everything, but they did let me combine Mr. Kipper's accounts. However, he did not have any points on either account.

Does the Gold status really show up "instantly" or do you have to make one stay under the promo?

I joined the BA status thing as well, the status did show up immediately as long as your BA account is existing otherwise it shows up as soon as your BA account becomes active(new sign up).
I had not receievd my card so I sent an email and received a reply back that I will be getting my new card soon, they did mention that the card had been sent April 11(which I never received).

I have another question on the BA instant Gold offer. Do you have to keep your account as collecting BA miles or can you change it to MR points and still retain the Gold status? I believe that similar offers for SPG status through airlines reverts your status back if you change from miles to points.

I recieved instant gold with Starwood about a year and a half ago based on Delta and it didn't take it away after I changed to points.

I changed Mr. Kipper's to points immediately, and it still shows as gold.
