Not necessarily because it is done to bill the guest on a weekly basis. Many RIs do this, but for reward purposes it counts as one stay because the guest never checked out.
This current year, I've been technically at a Towneplace Suites for 99 continuous nights with instant check in and out (for billing purposes) every week. For the purposes of the Spring megabonus, it counted each billing week as a separate stay.
