Since noone spoke to it yet, I just went and did a dummy signup for the BA Executive Club and it does allow you to sign up for an account online without booking a flight and even issues you a membership number (same as all the other airlines).

And just a note on collecting miles - if you are gold etc, where you get the extra % of points, collect points and then transfer them to miles, as if you just choose to collect miles you don't get the extra bonus for being gold etc.
Also - if you're looking at BA, make sure you read the BA board. The 241 Amex is particularly good.

As someone who actually is a member of BAEC I signed up - you get Gold instantly, the stays are for the bonus miles which appear on your Marriott account quickly, but BA doesn't currently seem to be transferring them through. I'm going to need to do some chasing, as this promotion has made me put through 14 days at a relatively expensive Marriott so far this month.
I doubt I'll be able to maintain Gold as I need to get back to Hilton properties to concentrate on covering my Miles n Points trip to Japan at the end of the year. Marriott have scored themselves a good shot at my custom for the coming year or two though, so we'll see!

Is there any way to take advantage of this Gold offer for existing marriott rewards members?
Suggestions?

Though I personally think that a lot of you may get this rescinded, as happenned with the Avis offer, as an existing member - since you DO NOT earn MR points but BA miles - I guess you could create a new account.

Once you start staying with them, they seem to bump you up real quick. When i first started, i was gold after 25 nights and Platinum after 40.

I highly suggest getting the Marriott Rewards card. I believe its 5 points to the dollar when spending at a marriot, 2 points to the dollar for "traveling" expenses (airline, resturaunt, etc.) and 1 point for everything else.
I travel about 65% and have almost stayed in marriott's exlcusively for the last year and accumulated like 320k points during that time.

Now it gets really good: http://joinmarriottrewards.com/BA/BAG1/ gives you instant Gold Elite status
"Thank you for joining Marriott Rewards, the award-winning programme designed to recognize your individual travel needs. Your Marriott Rewards Number is XXXXXXXXXX"
After this I have create my Online Account with password, but it is not possible to get access to my online account - there is since 2 days the following message:
"We're sorry. Online access to your account is currently unavailable."
Does anyone know if this is normal? How long does it take for online access?
Greetings,
SunshineMouse
