Newcomer to the Marriott Rewards program
I want to join the Marriott Rewards program, any special status shortcuts, loopholes or promotion codes I should be aware of?
TIA |
It depends on when your first stay is, and how often you plan to stay - but use the marriott site to check out the following:
1) they are running a mega-bonus offer now, as well as a few weekend bonus offers. when you join, make sure you also sign up for those. 2) if you can, get the Marriott Rewards card. even the base level card will give you 15 nights (enough to automatically make you a silver member); a free night cert, and maximize point values. I have also sent you a PM - welcome to MR - hope to see you often on this forum! :) sophiegirl |
This is a good place to start http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=812181

Now it gets really good: http://joinmarriottrewards.com/BA/BAG1/ gives you instant Gold Elite status

Thanks!
Hi Guys,
It worked like a charm, I'm the proud owenr of a Marriott Gold status card. Thanks, BJ ^ |

How did you do this? Did you sign up for a BA account first? Did you need an address in the UK? Or did you just go to the Marriott website and use the BAG1 code? Thanks stew |
I am slightly confused by the wording of the BA offer. If anyone has taken advantage of the "instant" Gold membership, do you have to complete the stay by May to get the year or is it only for the miles?
Thanks |
Welcome

I purchased hundreds of thousands of Mariott points from the co. pursuant to a promotion a year ago, for the price of 1 cent per point (now significantly more expensive). Now, however, I find that a lot of their hotels require an amt of points that exceeds the dollar cost of the stay if I were to pay wih cash. What a joke - what happened?:(

Now, however, I find that a lot of their hotels require an amt of points that exceeds the dollar cost of the stay if I were to pay wih cash. What a joke - what happened?: Perhaps it is just the areas I travel OR the fact that I doublecheck rates using all the codes - but I can quite often pay for a room more "cheaply" than I could use points. Tonite is a good example: I have a room for $49+ tax - I think most people bank their points for the $500+ a night NY Times Square hotels, or the Maui package that includes airfare, or the - - - - you get the drift. Which is also why these bookings are often sold out if you do not plan ahead. However, please note that I will be more than happy to release you from the burden of those penny points - I'll even pay you double that! :D:D:D |
No nights needed.

Thanks stew If this is anything like the Starwood promos where they give you status with your airline account - you lose the status if you convert to points earning. |
