Sky Mall

I decided to shop on skymall.com after reading that you earn 20 points per dollar when you shop at skymall.com. I had to buy a birthday gift anyway, so I shopped at skymall.com and bought the slanket for $50. Immediately after purchase, I noticed 1000 points had been added to my MR account.

The slanket was on backorder until the following Monday, and then on Monday I checked the status and the backorder had been extended until next month. I went ahead and canceled my order. It's been 3 weeks now, and the 1000 points has not been taken off my account.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? Will they ever take away the 1000 points?

They probably eventually will.
They probably can't do much about it if you use those points before they can take them away, but if you keep accumulating Marriott points in your account, there is a pretty good chance the 1000 points will be deducted.
I hope they don't. Good luck.

Thanks for the response, une. I'm pretty new with the Marriott Rewards program, so a lot of this is still confusing to me.

I have the MR Visa Signature card, and I believe I earn $3 for every dollar spent at Marriott locations. But I can earn more by shopping at skymall.com ($20 for every dollar spent). All my online shopping/birthday presents etc. is going to be through skymall.com from now on.

you should look into getting the premier visa card. you would get 5 points per $1 at marriot and 2 points per $1 on Air/Dining/Car rental.

20k bonus points
2 for 1 gold cert
free night cert 1-4

it would cost you $65 per year but the free night cert (cat 1-4) would be worth it. I thing it wil be a cat 1- 5 from second year

and you will get 15 nights credit every year towards your status.

here is a thread with more details and other experiences

I'm sorry for my ignorance here but what exactly does that mean, "15 nights credit every year"? As I said, I'm new at this. ..first major credit card.

It is 15 nights credit towards the Elite levels - Silver , Gold or Platinum

details here:http://www.marriott.com/rewards/member-benefits.mi

so the premium credit card would give you 15 night credits making you an automatic silver

Thanks! Now I get it. I'll definitely consider the premier card.
