Effective time of changing points or miles

Effective time of changing points or miles
Do I have to change my preference to receive points or miles prior to my stay or do I have up until midnight the day of checkout to make this change effective?

When a stay posts to your Marriott Rewards account, the earnings are based upon your preference at that time. I would suggest changing your preference prior to your stay, but as long as you change your preference before the stay posts, you'll receive what your account is set up to receive. Does that make sense?
