This is no complaint by any means as it has been working out to my advantage but is there any logic to how Marriott calulates points for stays paid in Euros, Czech Krone, etc.?

I believe generally they use a "standard" conversion rate that may change once or twice a month. In other words, I seldom get the same number of points (after allowing for taxes) as my credit card bill would indicate. Sometimes it's more, sometimes it's less, but usually very close.
When it isn't "very close" and I suspect a major error has been made (converted using the wrong currency, for instance), I fax the folio to the London help desk since they seem to be more adept, or more experienced, at these currency conversions, and it usually gets fixed right away.
