Using the US$99 Dining Certificates
We bought three for our trip to St. Kitts based on other FTers recs (BTW huge thank you) and we have one leftover. We were planning on using it at the Marriott's Wentworth By the Sea. None of there restaurants are excluded. When I called to make reservations, they said they don't take these coupons. I went to the current terms and conditions as if I were to purchase one today, and this restaurant is not listed. I seek advise as to how to handle this situation.

I had a problem using one at the JW Marriott in Capri. This restaurant is not excluded on the certificate or in the on-line T&C. I even emailed the hotel and asked if they were usable and was told yes. I was still refused at the hotel. After much hassle and an eventual conversation with the hotel manager I was finally allowed to use it after I produced a printed copy of the email from the hotel. Prior to this I was told no by three different people.
Even though I notified customer service of this problem a month ago the restaurant at Capri is still not excluded on the on-line terms and conditions for the certificates.
For your situation, since you asked the hotel and they said. No. I guess that should be your answer. If you go there and try and use it and they also say No then your only recourse is to go to battle. In your case you will not have anything in writing.
You can read your certificate 100 times and Im sure you can convince yourself (as I did) that there should be no problem using it but the restaurant will find something on the back of your certificate such as owned by the hotel or Please confirm the use of this certificate with the hotel or restaurant prior to dining to give you grief.
If they cant find anything they will make something up (as they did in Capri) such as we are not a real Marriott, just a franchise, we do not have to accept them.
I must say Marriott is seriously getting on my nerves these days.

Great restaurant and great food. I have used the Marriott Gift Certificates at this restaurant before - the ones you get from cashing in your points. They were treated just like cash. I know this doesn't answer your question but they do take some things...
