How often double points on group contracts?
I'm in the process of contracting some 10 rooms for 4 nights each at a Marriott property. I signed a contract for April 2007 and am now working on April 2008. this will be the second time that I've ever done this sort of thing.
For this year's stay, I was offered 'double points' meaning that I was awarded 3 points per dollar spent on the 40 nights total while the individuals occupying those 10 rooms also earned points.
For 2008, the hotel is saying that they now realize that this is an in-demand week for them and so cannot offer those double points.
My question: How routine is it that meeting planners get this kind of 'doubling of points'? This was the first time that I've ever signed a multi-room contract. I'm disappointed that they are not prepared to offer that to me next year - it was a big incentive for me.
Thanks in advance,
LAR
