For posterity (and because Google Caches are only valid for a short time), the internet archive has a copy at

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://...d.php?t=455716

Remember, anything you ever type on the internet is archived permanently in places you wouldn't have thought to look :-)

Face it, using a rate not entitled to you is no different from walking into a target store and changing price tags on an item. Your rationale, well the cashier didn't check to see if it was the right price so I'm okay. Last I heard shoplifting was a felony. I don't know if Marriott requested its removal, but even if they did, they were probably entitled, as the codes, in some cases, could probably be considered propietary information (especially those codes that reflected privately negotiated rates.)
Your message implies that anybody who uses one of the codes is a thief. You are speaking for yourself.

In addition to corporate codes, the list was also a nice digest of the promotional codes available to anybody.

As for the corporate codes, in the "old" days (until the end of the last century )virtually all business trave was done through travel agents. Many companies (including mine) had an in-house agent, whose costs were paid for by kicking back some of the commissions. Once the commissions dried up, these agencies were gotten rid of. At the same time Internet booking became ubiquitous so we were told to make our own travel arrangements. Before, the travel agent would take care of getting any applicable corporate discounts. The fact that the travel agent obtained the corporate rate somehow added a sense of legitimacy to the booking and it was never questioned.

As inside_edition shared with us, the corporate discounts are still available. Instead of booking via a website, we just now have to call either Marriott or the hotel itself to get it. This negates the purpose of Marriott.com and adds to both mine and Marriott's phone agent's time.

...or someone can start a new list.

OK they too raised their Property Cats but at least they were kind enough to have put out a warning that its upcoming and didnt do it Like a Thief in the middle of the night as MR did.

If what you say is true that there are 1000s of Codes then there is no reasonable explanation for MR having Trojans list/thread Deleted as they did. since all a person has to do is play around with different letters long enough and they will then hav eto stumble across a series of letters that is an actual cose that works. so in the end all that is being accomplished is to hav eme WASTE my time by calling in and listingthe companies I will be working with/at in any locale and then go onto MR to see what if anything is being offered. With the list I was able to scan it and see for myself and it took no time rather then ahving to call up and wait.

In my case I Completely forgot about TZO(Travel Zoo) without having seen that on Trojans list that I was able to see Thanks to GUW, I wouldnt have had a paid stay at any MR at ALL, as I had made a res using my Hilton Certs I received from a promo they had last year. Im not about to spend $159+tx for a CourtYard where theres no breakfast etc. the Renaissance I stay at is less then that per night as their reg rate!! w/o any codes being used (as I posted previously that Ren doesnt offer any discounts with any Code what-so-ever, so its Rack Rate for Me when I stay there those 50-60 nights a year although a very low one at that).
You do realize that every year a revaluation of properties has occurred (I'm sure if you do a search you'll see a ton of threads on this very topic each and every year)...MI uses a ratio of points awarded versus points redeemed, that is how categories are given...as far as why the thread was deleted I have no knowledge but it sounds like some of the mods do

I'm sure a lot of folk copied the codes beforet they were deleted , but the unfortunate part of the deletion is that there were a # of publicly available codes that anyone was entitled to & those went away w/ the deletion of the sticky of corp codes. I've taken advantage of a lot of publicly available codes that I wouldn't have known about if it hadn't been they were listed there.

I'd vote for at least starting up a thread w/ publicly available rates - even Marriott can't argue w/ that, or if they do then they really have turned their back on their customers.

Cheers.

We can continue the discussion about these codes there I believe.

Quite honestly I just would like to know who made the decision to delete the list from FT.

it seems that the list on FatWallet is the same one that was on FT. So what did MR accomplish, well now they really will have to worry about the cat getting out the bag as FW members and viewers usually dont care about anything except saving themselves $$$.

So MR ^ ^ for screwing Us here on FT which it now seems all you really did was to Screw yourselves, even worse.

there are websites that lists Currect Test drives on Cars that yields some gift, it did get out of hand but was nothing before some of those sites came under pressure to delete them, now the TD show up on FW and the Manufactors are in a worse position.

I hope MR gets hit HARD and will think the next time it wants to mess with FT!

I think it was a bad move on FT to allow the thread to be deleted.

agree that the list of publicly available rates was helpful at times, but maintaining a list of corporate codes is not really ethical. Let's be real... wouldn't it be more sensible to ask your employer for your employer's code? I don't buy the idea that someone is really entitled to use multiple corporate codes, but do not know what they might be. If you are a freelance consultant and are not employed by your clients, and you pay your own bills, I would propose that you are probably not really entitled to use that company's discount code.
