what happened to the sticky with the Codes?
I have an upcoming trip whereby I'll be doing some biz with a few different companies, so I figured to go to the Codes-sticky and see which if any of these companies might have a code that I can use.
Low & Behold the Sticky is no more! :td: :td: :td: Which means that it will now cost me more out of my OWN pocket. Have the new owners of FT hired Sheryl (BFT) to go amuck and remove anything that can save those who can use it from saving $$ now on FT. Sure there were those who might have used the codes when they werent entitled to , but there are plenty of us who at times can use them and are entitled to. A very SAD Day IMHO. If anyone was Smart enough to have saved the post and list please PM me or simply email it to me THANKS in advance |
I was wondering where they went as well- have searced for it and unable to find it.

I owe You Big even if there isnt a code that Im allowed to use that will bring a rate down to where its useable this time, as I placed this List now on my Favorites so Im Positive it will come in handy sometime in the future. Would still like to know what happened and why to that Sticky seems its been DELETED completely and not simply UnStickyed:td: |
By the way, isn't it time to remove the "No need to reply with quote every time" thread? Is not a big deal and takes some valuable space up there.

I am glad it helps both of us (sooner or later :D), but instead of relying upon the cache there going forward, I've already copied and pasted the codes somewhere handy. :)
good idea! |

Thanks to those who PMed me the the URL to the RC link. that is OK but it doesnt contain as many as the Sticky, and its basically a list of Publically available codes, when its the Corporate codes that I was after and that usually but NOT always had a cheaper rate. (Whats weird is the 1 Renaissance I spend 50-60 nights a yr its Overseas doesnt accept or offer any discount codes at all.) alot of the time since the people I deal with at their Companies dont travel for their work, they have no idea if their Company has a code and if they do what it is. Thats why the Sticky was Great, I was able to go the list and see if ABC Widgets that I was going to be visiting on Biz had a code, if they did I could then go ahead and see if theres a good rate at a MR within say 1/2 hr drive from the Offices, if Yes then Id ask either for them to set up the Res and later on put my ID and CC onto it as I pay for my Rooms, or to fax me a letter of intro to give at Check-in in case Im asked for it. Completely Legit. Figuring out a code on your own isnt always so simple , its like trying to figure out a Stock Symbol sometimes its 1-2-3 like GE for GE, but I would have thought Citi would be CIT and not C, which use to be for Chyrsler, but since Mercedes brought Chyrsler , so now DCX for DaimlerChyrsler Of cause I would have thought it was either DC or MBC (Mercedes Benz Chyrsler). My point was its not so easy to figure out what a code should be simply based on a companies name. |
My Results
1) the couple of Companies I'll be at either didnt have a Code, wasnt available, or was higher then other rates
2) the RC link that I was sent seems to missing a publically available code that was on the Org Sticky namely 'TZO' which is for Travel Zoo. 3) so I was able to book a CY at $79 less then $90 w/tx and cancelled using my Free Nights at a Hilton which Xs out in Aug In the end I was able to book with a Publically available Code that was listed on the Sticky that wasnt listed elsewhere, 100% Legit , the Corp Codes I could have used were alot more $$$ and I can save my Hilton Certs (from the 5/10/15 promo) for anytime where I cant get anything as inexpensive, OK I was gonna be staying a FS Hilton but a CY will do just as good and its not a Motel6 THANKS to whomever it was and decided to DELETE that Sticky, You can PM me and Id be Glad to supply You with all the details of the Hotel that I got that if it wasnt for GUWonder I would have blown my free Hilton certs for instead. OK the Hilton would have been a 5 min drive from where I need to be rather then the 25 min drive from the CY, but Id rather get the MR Credit and not use my free certs from HH, when its under $90 with the tx. BTW the reg rate is $159 + tx or $176.49 a savings to me of close to $90 , I would never pay $177 for a CY |
Was wondering how long it would take before someone asked
The thread was removed not by me but by FT and I'll leave it at that
I will have a private location to post these codes sometime in the future. However due to my 1. paranoia (sic?) of Marriott and their Nifong led attorney's 2. to prevent (or reduce the risk as much as reasonably possible) Marriott from seeing my posting and 3. just because of my sheer disdain for MR right now (note: it was not this way when this list started) I will only allow access to those that I personally know, can reasonably (at my discretion) determine that they are not Marriott employees or reps, or are referred by people I trust. One example is a PM I rec'd the day or two after the thread was removed by someone who had ZERO posts asking me for the list; like yeah right I'll respond to that person.. I don't think so... so until I come up with a better way.. thats how it will be.. as of now I have notified those that I know that use this thread that fall into the above cats.. its possible that I missed a couple if so then just PM me.. I am maintaining the list and am updating as new codes are discovered. TH |
I would have asked way before today but I was Overseas since 3/28 and assume that it was some time after that date that it was DELETED.
If what you say is True and Marriott brought its Dimise around. Thats another nail in MRs coffin, after their changing the Cats as Thieves in the middle of the night on 3/2, screwing around with the Govt Rates, and now this I can say that once the Renaissance I stay at leaves MR in 3 yrs I will follow them away as well |
There are thousands and thousands of corporate/promotional codes; It's really quite incredible. If you need one looked up for a company, project, or a certain rate, contact internet customer care and ask them. It's pretty easy to look them up in the database, so feel free to inquire.
Help / Contact Us if you want to email them directly, use internet.customer.care (at) marriott.com |

Help / Contact Us if you want to email them directly, use internet.customer.care (at) marriott.com The whole Attitude of MR STINKS, seems they have done a complete 180 from after 9-11. They are foolharded since eventually there will be a downturn and WE or at least I will remember how they Royally went on a WarPath to Screw us, these last 2 months and will be more then Thrilled to give my Biz to the other Chains. OK they too raised their Property Cats but at least they were kind enough to have put out a warning that its upcoming and didnt do it Like a Thief in the middle of the night as MR did. If what you say is true that there are 1000s of Codes then there is no reasonable explanation for MR having Trojans list/thread Deleted as they did. since all a person has to do is play around with different letters long enough and they will then hav eto stumble across a series of letters that is an actual cose that works. so in the end all that is being accomplished is to hav eme WASTE my time by calling in and listingthe companies I will be working with/at in any locale and then go onto MR to see what if anything is being offered. With the list I was able to scan it and see for myself and it took no time rather then ahving to call up and wait. In my case I Completely forgot about TZO(Travel Zoo) without having seen that on Trojans list that I was able to see Thanks to GUW, I wouldnt have had a paid stay at any MR at ALL, as I had made a res using my Hilton Certs I received from a promo they had last year. Im not about to spend $159+tx for a CourtYard where theres no breakfast etc. the Renaissance I stay at is less then that per night as their reg rate!! w/o any codes being used (as I posted previously that Ren doesnt offer any discounts with any Code what-so-ever, so its Rack Rate for Me when I stay there those 50-60 nights a year although a very low one at that). |
I just find it amazing how many people whine because they are not allowed to unethically abscond with a rate they were not entitled to anyway. If you are entitled to the rate, that is one thing, and usually that rate was public or the company that negotiated the rate provided it in confidence to those entitled. Face it, using a rate not entitled to you is no different from walking into a target store and changing price tags on an item. Your rationale, well the cashier didn't check to see if it was the right price so I'm okay. Last I heard shoplifting was a felony. I don't know if Marriott requested its removal, but even if they did, they were probably entitled, as the codes, in some cases, could probably be considered propietary information (especially those codes that reflected privately negotiated rates.)

that store is counting on that the majority of people wont care once they are inside the store what the price is as they want the item, and dont mind losing the sale to someone like me since they will more then make it up on the fools that dont care and pay whatever they are told. so be it. If its in the neighborhood where I live or work or even frequent regularly, I will never walk back into that place. No different then when they say , theres a 415 or $10 min for using a Credit Card to pay, I dont get into an argument, I simply thanks for wasting my time by not having a notice on your door or window and I leave the place w/o anything even if I have the $$ to pay for it, and No I dont put the items back either. OK so people used Codes that they werent entitled to, I dont want to debate if MR lost on it or not, but I used codes that I was able to on a Legit Basis now that was denied me. Maybe ALL Airlines should do away with selling Roundtrip tkts and only sell 1 ways at those high fares, since there are lots of people who buy a round-trip without any intent of using the return portion since it comes out cheaper to fly 1 way that way, even better they will be able to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, cause by selling only 1 ways there will be no way anyone will be able to buy 2 back-to-backs and save doing it that way. Man seems Marriott is the ONLY company out there thats using their Heads when it comes to trying to stop those few who game the system when they arent suppose to. The Airlines are on the watch for it, but SMARTLy they arent going to cut off their heads cause they dont like their nose. The answer is for MR or anyone else to have left things as is and beef up their Check-in process, just as the Carriers have their own check and balances in place looking to spot those who are not fulfilling the T&Cs of what they purchased, some will be caught others probably eventually while there will be those who will get away with it unending. I dont care for MRs Attitude. |
