it is a funny thing with Marriott, you need 50 for Gold or 75 nights for Platinum to get status in a 12 month period.. and calendar year to maintain, but as soon as you do not maintain it, you then get checked for 12 month rolling period, so you get downgraded for maybe a week or two and then it is back to the rolling period qualification.

When do these sweeps happen? If one is not due, can one call and expedite it? I expect to get to 50 in 12 months at check out on May 8. I'll be staying at Marriotts in the UK starting on May 25, so I'm wondering if I'll be gold by that time.

It's been posted elsewhere that it runs every Wednesday night.

You can call Marriott Rewards and ask about a challenge. Recent posts here, including one of my own, seem to show that Marriott is a little more willing to hand out challenges rather than status matches.
Also, since you already have almost 50 nights, by the time you make a Gold challenge, you will almost be a Gold anyway. So you would be much better off asking about a Platinum challenge. And if you haven't already applied for and received the Premier Signature Marriott Visa, then you might want to look into that as well. It will come with bonus points, a free-night and a golf cert, plus give you 15 nights toward elite status. (Instand Gold for you if you do nothing else.) ^

I called for a status match of my Hilton Diamond to Marriott Platinum. I received the same 18 nights in 3 months challenge after faxing in my Hilton stay pattern for 2006. The customer service rep made it clear that this was a one time deal only. The specific rep told me to recontact her once I meet the required number of nights, I'm hoping it will work

I called Marriott Rewards spoke to CSR and was denied for status match or status challenge. Then I asked for Supervisor, and she was reluctant to give status match almost a point of reject, then I said just give me status challenge to Plat. Then she gave me the fax number to fax all documents to show that I am HHonors Diamond and SPG Plat. She said, she won't promise anything but she will take a look at what she can do.
Is the a phone number I can call to ask for status challenge or just call MR CSR again? Thanks.
