Hi,
I am paying for a marriott room with my credit card but the room is under a coworker of mine. Am I still eligible for the points and stays by giving my marriott rewards number since I'm paying even though the name on the room is my coworker?

If you are staying at the hotel also, you will only get the points for your room not your co-worker. If you are not staying there, reserve the room in your name online and place your co-worker name in the comments. This will guarantee you getting the points. If it stays in her name you may or may not get the points.

I don't think it matters whose name the reservation is in - just who pays. I had to travel with my boss and the room was in my name but they refused me the points because he paid for the room with a business amex.

I have had it happen to me before, and when I tried to send it in to Marriott they said I was not the person stayed in the room. Be safe put it in your name....

It is simple. The reservation or reservations (2 rooms) must be in your name and you must pay for each room in order to get points. If you read the Marriott Rewards T&C's you can get points for up to 3 rooms, but you will only get stay credits (Different than points) for the room you stay in.

Hotels have three key relationships for every room night. Sometimes they are the same person but in many cases not.
The guest is the one staying in the room.
The (client, customer, account ) is the one paying for the room.
And the 'agent' is the one booking the room.
Marriott Rewards is a frequent guest program. Marriott has other programs for the other two groups.
The wishes of the one paying for the room is always going to overide the other 2 though. Thus, if the one paying wants the points they can arrange to do that.
In most jurisdictions around the world it is actually illegal to not register the guest who is actually staying in the room but the reservations systems have another field for entering the name of the 'client' allowing that person or company to be awarded points instead.
Another way this is done is to connect the folios of the rooms being paid to a client folio or when the client is staying in another room the folios are just connected to the one who is paying for them all and the rooms all post over to 'his' folio and he gets the points for all $ but just one stay.

Can you provide any info about the "other" programs Marriott offers (client, customer, acct / agent)? I've been looking for these options but have been unsuccessful. Is it on their website?
I own a small company and we've recently started traveling to different markets in the US. I book all travel arrangements and pay all bills and travel expenses. I am a MR member; none of my employees are registered with any hotel reward programs as of right now. I do make the reservations under their names, and have to fax each property a Credit Card Auth form for each reservation so they can use my cc. Shortly after booking 3 reservations online using my MR#, I rc'd a call from MR CSR advising I would not be eligible for points or stays on 2 of the reservations, because they were not in my name and I was staying in a different city. I understand about not rcv'g credit for stays, but thought I might qualify for points since I was paying.
I posted a while back about this and got some good advice about getting corporate cards for points, etc. but nothing for MR in particular. I was referred to Starwood Business Rewards, and it does offer what I'm looking for (credit for paying for my employees) the only problem is they don't have a wide selection of properties in all markets. Really would like to keep my business with Marriott, I've always used them and have been very satisfied with their properties and service.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Well. You would need to contact a sales office at Marriott or at a property you will be using often. Most of these programs are marketed to the target groups.
You then have the option as setting up each employees MR account for the company and even while earnings and the accounts are in their names the points and accounts would be the property of the company.
Rates that are negociated often exclude point earning to get the lower rate.
They do have the event/group/meeting plan. They are a little unclear but state it requires 10 room nights and a signed contract with each hotel. Groups have traditially required 5 or 8 rooms depending on the property.
