How long for Marriott to reply to request for status match??

After following a thread on FT about status matching, I recently contacted Marriott and SPG (and a few other hotel chains) by fax requesting a status match to my HHonors Diamond level...provided all the requested docs such as statements and copy of Elite card...it's been about 2 weeks and no responses yet. Any idea how long Marriott and SPG take to get back to customer requests of this type?

BTW, I had heard back from Prioirity Club and Sofitel...in fact within 48 hours of my requests.

I have always found that I get better results when faxing papers to Marriott if I first call them and get an "attention" name on the fax. That way I know someone is looking for the fax, and I have a name to call to check and see where all the paperwork is.

You may want to give Marriott Rewards a call and see if you can actually talk to someone about getting your status matched.

Good luck.

FWIW, I am guessing you are not intending on bringing all of your business from Hilton to Marriott since you are requesting status matches with every major hotel chain. Keep in mind that IF Marriott gives you a status match they will only do it once. This isn't SPG where they hand Gold to anybody like they did to me this year when the last time I stayed at an SPG property was January 2004.

Now if you stay over 200 nights a year at hotels then your strategy is excellent.

marriott is slow, if you email [email protected], sometimes takes 1-3 days to get a reply!
