Excellent point! I was feeling dumb for buying $4K worth to cover our vacation last week, but you have made me feel better about it now...

Also, just another confirmation that 18 of the expected 30 "triple play" points have posted to my account. Now all I need is the 25K bonus to post...

Has anyone seen the points for this promotion post yet??? I know the T & C's
said 4 to 6 weeks after promotion but it rarely take the entire time.

As of now its going for $237.50 (which is a 5% discount to its full value) but then theres the $5 S&H so the buyer will save all of $7.50 which is all of 3% too little to me to worth taking a chance that its 100% Kosher. With a $5 S&H I wouldnt have bidded anything above $220 which would have been a 10% disc, but even with that Id lose the 5 pts per $ that I would have gotten by using my MR CC.

I guess theres still a sucker born every moment and that means someone out there will still make a quick Buck

Lots of eBayers buy gift cards in order to cash out their PayPal accounts.

As well as defraud the sellers. The other year I had some electronic Amazon.com electronic gift cards and half of the attempted buyers were trying to pull fraud.

 How does a buyer defraud the seller?

Dump question: why can't you just have Paypal deposit the money in your account directly into your bank account? Why do you have to cycle through a gift card to get cash?

That's the usual offer. This year, they've added a different wrinkle: you pay full face value on the card, and they send you a bright red piece of luggage. I'll probably score two or three new bags before the offer ends - then I hope they go back to the good old $900 cards.

(Hit the usual https://gifts.marriott.com site if you are interested in the luggage...)

How the seller could qualify for PayPal's Seller Protection when the delivery is electronic? The PayPal's Seller Protections is a big joke anyway.

Chargeback/dispute the transaction after receiving the card.

Points have posted

True to their word (promised 4-6 weeks after end of promo). My online account balance just went up by 25K points overnite although the detailed entry has not shown up yet.

hhoope01 Feb 2, 2007 5:56 am

Yep the points have arrived. But don't you just love that nice feature where Marriott lets you see your updated balance online, but keeps the actual transaction a secret for one extra day.

My purchase was made on the New Year's eve and the points have not posted yet.

Hi All,
I did receive the 25,000 points into my account today but I noticed that each of my stays that I used the cards I aquired no MR points. Has anyone else noticed this?

Just got mine, too.

All my stays credit paid for with the gift cards have credited, too.

I didn't receive mine yet. :( Maybe they don't all post on the same day.
