New Marriott.com Search
Has anyone seen the new search? They have a keyword search and a way to narrow down your search results.

it is worse
the new search feature is worse.
Before I can search a goupe of brands, such as: I can select a city, group both marriott & renaissance, and get all the marriotts and renaissances in that city
But now you could not group them, can only search one brand

You might also want to check out this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=599260
There are a number of comments about the new search functionality there as well.
For the most part, I tend to agree with most everyone else in that thread and have to ask the question "Why not just add new functionality without losing other functionality?"

They tried to make it easier for the average consumer, which aggrevates us FT's.

Nice Functionality Though
Yea, I can see why the power users would have some issue with the new search but I like the functionality. It works well for places that you've never been. Has anyone tried the keyword function yet? I typed in aruba and family. Very nice! One hotel in one click.

I'm not asking for advanced search to be on the front page. It can be buried deep, but why remove it completely?
Sorting all RIs and CYs within 5 miles of New York by price was a matter of couple clicks with the old search. Now it's completely impossible. Hardly an improvement.

Definitely a step backward with the new search for reasons cited by others above

Another vote for don't like it. As others have already stated, adding new functionality is fine; however, there was no reason to remove the old functionality. It should have been left as an "expert" option. My two cents...

Hate the fact that we lost the "Display All on One Page" button down by the page numbers...

Looks like the Marriott.com search page has problems interacting with IE 7.
I've got IE 7 on my desktop and can't see the search feature on the first page. Instead, I have to click on find & reserve and go to another page.
I still have IE 6 on my laptop, where it works fine.
Except, of course, I hate the loss of search capability ..... but that's another issue.

You're right. I have to use Netscape to view that area of the website. Actually, I can't even post at all on Flyertalk when I'm on AOL. I have to access it through Netscape to post anything.
