Thumbs up Bumped by marriott

hi there,

its my first post and i hope it works. I´m from germany and have a question to the marriott reward programm.

i booked a courtyard hotel in germany (braunschweig), got the confirmation by marriot, but the hotel was sold out. so they ask me to go to berlin to the marriot there. i stayed 2 nights in a suite (upgrade for free) at this location, at check out they told me, that i`m a GOLD member - but i had only 29 nights. but i have alredy booked 2 rooms for 14 nights in a another location at the cost. so i think they bumped me up. now i have alredy 45 nights, what you think - when they will bump me up for platin?

thanks for answer - but sorry for that bad english - me from germany.

Welcome to FT and congratulations on your early status with Marriott. Early status upgrades are not that common, so unless you contact customer service and ask, I would not expect a plt upgrade until you hit 75 nights.

Your reference to "bumped" typically is something bad -- such as bumped from flight (removed from your scheduled flight) or bumped from hotel (similar to being "walked") like your experience at the Courtyard. So enjoy your "bump-ed-ness"

Kampfei,

Welcome to FT!

You may have receive your status as the result of the rolling 12 month qualification window discussed here. So if you have 50 nights in the last 12 months you would get Gold Elite Status. After your upcoming stays, if you have 75 nights in the previous 12 months then you will get Platinum. As previously noted by Marriott Concierge this is not a published or official policy but it is currently being practiced at Marriott.

Welcome to flyertalk, Kampfei.

If you already had nights last year, they also count towards elite (gold or platinum) status - as long as they were in the previous 12 months. I suspect that's what happened when you were upgraded to gold.

They do the check every Monday, so if you now have 75 nights in the last 12 months, they will upgrade you to Platinum next Monday.
