Hilton Status Match?

All

I am a Hilton Diamond, does Marriott matches satus by Hilton? I am positive it has been stated earlier, but couldn't find any related.

Please let me know, if this is a repost, my sincere apologies.

Welcome to FT!

Marriott has in the past status match from other hotel programs but only up to GOLD. They will NOT status match Platinum to Platinum. If you are a Platinum with HH you might want to call MR and ask for a Platinum challenge.

Sorry for my ignorance, what should I expect as part of the challenge?

Not sure about the Marriott Plat challenge if there is one, but generally, when doing challenges, it's X number of stays in Y number of nights. So maybe (and this is just an example, these numbers are made up) 25 roomnights in 60 days or something.

Don't be sorry, glad to be of help.

You would have to stay an X amount of nights within a 60-90 day period. A friend of mine was a SPG Platinum and was given 18 nights challenge within 90 days.

Be advised that Gold in the Marriott program may very well be good enough. You get the same upgrade guarantee. The only differences (published) that I know of are:

1. 30% bonus vs. 25% as a Gold, and
2. No Platinum Arrival gift (so buy your own cookies )

There may be unpublished benefits, such as a better effort in case of problems and so on, but that tends to be property specific.

3. 48 hour reservation guarantee
4. Platinum Reservation Line

Unpublished: You are higher in the queue for upgrades

You are correct with 3 and 4, but I never use them, so they don't rattle around my subconscious.

One of the things that I learned recently was that sometimes platinums use the guarantee without even knowing it. If you're a plat & you're logged into your Marriott.com profile, from what I understand is that their system will allow you to override the room/restrictions without you knowing it. So, you may have used this benefit without your knowledge.

I was comped gold and given the same challenge--18 nights in 90 days having been a Hilton Diamond.

How do I go about getting the status match? Is there a special number I need to call or will any CSR I get on the phone do? What information do I need to provide when I call them? Thanks a bunch.

I don't claim to be an expert by any stretch of the imagination and I am sure that others can answer better than I can.

Since Marriott Gold is 50 nights and Hilton Diamond is 60, it takes about the same amount of effort IMO.

Because of where I was working, the only Marriott property in the area was a RI and a CY about 5 miles further. I think I stayed at the CY 2 nights, RI 13 nights and then a Marriott 3 nights for my challenge. At the CY and RI, I didn't receive anything as a gold. At the Marriott in Atlanta, it was a Thursday-Sunday stay so the lounge was only open Thursday night and Friday morning. I'm not sure if I should have received breakfast on Saturday and Sunday and didn't ask because we had plans.

I think I received an upgraded room but it wasn't on one of the top floors. With Hilton, I have always received one of the top floors and they usually have designated Executive floors. I am still not as familiar with Marriott so I'm not sure if they have the same.

Other than Hilton lounges being open on the weekends, I didn't see much of a difference. But, as stated above, most of my nights as a gold were at RI and CYs.

Now that I'm platinum, I do like the welcome gift at Marriotts but other than that, I haven't seen much of a difference from a Hilton Diamond. I wish that Hilton had a Diamond Elite and Diamond Premier like Marriott does since I have over twice the amount of stays and nights required for Diamond.

Send an e-mail to [email protected] requesting a status match. They will then ask you for statements to prove your status and stays which you can fax over. Within a few hours they confirmed my Gold status and the Platinum challenge.

As soon as I reached the 18 nights, I e-mailed again to have my status changed.
