I think so,
because not all Marriott Reward members are aware that American Airlines FFP is celebrating its 25th anniversary. So if you are in the process to redeem a Travel Package... you could consider to wait up to May 8th, when the following (?) AA url will be usable http://www.aadvantage25.com/home.php?oid=1008

Let me explain, in the http://www.aadvantage25.com/home.php home page there're only two hotel programs/chains mentioned, Marriott and Intercontinental and they are also the two hotel programs which provided you a 25% AA additional conversion bonus during a part of last year. So the assumption of a bonus is not totally illogic.

You know I saw Marriott listed last week when I first looked at that site and scratched my head as to what they would offer with Marriott. Well duh... and to think I was one of the first to redeem during last year's bonus. I will be again this year if that is the case; 144,000 AA miles Ka-ching!

Sweet...I'm sitting right at the level for my next Travel Package. Of course, I wasn't planning on redeeming yet, since I don't have a seven-nighter planned, but a 25% AA bonus would be incentive to get off my duff and find a nice Marriott somewhere unusual worthy of a week's stay.

FYI, unless, someone has access to more information than I have seen, which could very well be possible, I don't think that AA has "officially" stated what their bonus with Marriott will be.

And while a 25% bonus on point conversions may be announced on the 8th, it could end up being some other type of bonus promotion. So don't get too worked up on it being some specific bonus.

IceTrojan has done a little detective work for everyone and it looks like the Marriott Bonus may be something different than originally predicted.

I know...it could be anything. The offers seem to vary widely in terms of their value from day to day. For example, the May 1st offer - book award tix for the fall at 25% off normal levels - seems pretty good. It has me looking at a couple of possible trips using miles. Then today's offer is basically worthless...25% bonus on AA Mastercard spending, which is what anybody can already get with SPG Amex.

So the Marriott offer really could be anything. But Volvic's guess at a conversion bonus, plus notifying people here who might not otherwise follow the AA board, makes decent sense.

The other thing it could be is an AA mileage bonus for doing Marriott stays. I hope it isn't that, because it would inevitably mean not earning points on those stays.

Those are the only two possibilities I can think of regarding the Marriott day on the AA25 site. Unless they're doing something wacky with AAvacations, which would be even lamer than a weak mileage bonus.

Edited to add: If Icetrojan's research is correct, it sounds like it could be an offer to view timeshares. I get those in my snail mail from time to time - discounted hotel/car in Hawaii, AA bonus miles. As timeshare-viewing deals go, Marriott is actually pretty generous with their deals.

I agree, my guess is just a guess, no proof. The bonus last year was of 20% not 25%, but looking at the marketing logic this time AA is placing a lot of 25 related numbers... e.g. today offer is

By the way...semi-off-topic...but United is also running these 25th Anniversary promotions, and their Marriott offer is a timeshare presentation that includes 25,000 bonus miles. But...the front-money is a couple hundred bucks higher than the traditional AA offers. ($850 vs. the usual $599, and United doesn't kick in the rental car like AA usually does. Same number of nights included...five.)

So, if AA's Hawaii deal is a timeshare thing that interests you, make sure you compare/contrast it with United's.

The one upside to the United offer is that you can book it until 12/31 and travel until early 2008. Most of these AA deals require you to act immediately - most of them will disappear on May 31st.
