No, but I did remember reading one post a while back that indicated night credits were received on an award stay where a purchased upgrade was included. That was a single post though. Can anyone confirm whether this is the case or not? If it is the case, then that would be enough for me to make a point to look for these type of awards. I know Sydney Harbour Marriott is one of the properties I have seen offering $, or more precisely AUD, upgrades in conjunction with award stays.

Based on my experience, I don't think you are supposed to receive nights stayed for any rooms booked as a rewards stay, including if you upgrade with cash, which is common in a lot of beach resort hotels.
With that said, that doesn't preclude mistakes from happening. I once stayed a week at the Imperial Palms Vacation Club in Orlando. To try and get more points, I bought week long Disney tickets for the whole family through the Marriott Conceirge. And of course that was placed on my stay bill and was fairly sizable. I ended up receiving 7 nights credit for that stay. I suspect either how the charge was put into the system was incorrect or the system itself somehow mistook the charges are daily charges.
But on all other stays, including stays in Hawaii where we upgraded to Oceanfront rooms with cash, no night credits.

MR and Paid nights
I found something out by mistake 2 years ago.
When you have a stay that is all points, you dont get credit for the nights, but , if you pay for the first night and use points for the rest, you will generally get credit for all nights.
We stayed at the JW in Orlando. We wanted to use points for 4 nights. However, the 1st night of our stay points were unavailable so we paid for it.
We got credit for all 4 nights.
This worked again in Aruba. So, if I need the nights, I pay the first night and use points the rest of the time.

This is very good info. Do you need to get the reservations "knitted together" under one confirmation number for this to work? I imagine the answer is yes, when I have had one "stay" as two consecutive resrevations it has always posted separately.Originally Posted by Mr. Vker

Bangkok Marriott Resort experience
I did receive points for the $65 per night but I did NOT receive any night credits for the three nights we spent there.
By the way, our stay at the Bangkok Marriott Resort was wonderful. It's a beautiful property that I would recommend to anyone.

I dont know about this one. I recently used award points for a 3 night stay at the Bangkok Marriott Resort and paid approx $US65 for the upgrade to a junior suite. Originally Posted by aaupgrade

Good point.
I made the reservations through the Platinum reservations number, not online. It was all together on 1 confirmation number.
I hope this continues to work! ^
We stayed at the Clearwater Marriott Suites in March. It was all rewards stay with one night paid on the last day of our stay. Wish I would've know about the points credited if the paid night was the first and not the last day of our vacation.Good to know.
