I got one expiring in October from the Tysons Corner Marriott. My guess is that they ordered the later ones so they would not have to swap any BBs for later stays in March.

Marriott Bonus Bucks

I used to see a lot of $50 and $100 Marriott Bonus Bucks certificates for sale on Ebay. They have vanished, and don't seem to be available anywhere else. Anyone know where I can purchase a few?
Thanks.

You can trade for them on the coupon connection once you reach 90 posts and 90 days.
I am not 100% sure on the requirements for CC forum access but once you hit the threshold there is forum here where you can trade and Bonus bucks are usually on there.
If you are able to find them for sale anywhere PM me bc I have been looking for a $100 one for an upcoming stay over Easter.

The wholesale prices increased recently so I suspect that fewer are in circulation. Also, eBay usually cancels BB auctions for some reason, perhaps at Marriott's request.

^^ This

When I bought them in 2007 and 2008, $50 Bonus Bucks were $5 each and you could buy 200 at a time.

I inquired last month and they were $30 each and you had to buy 500.

Ebay will remove any auction or ones for sale as soon as they are alerted.

How do you get access to wholesale bonus bucks. And are they weekend only?

Contact information is on the page. There are forms to fill out and all that once you contact a manager. I'm sure the process is more thoroughly scrutinized due to past fraud.

I used to buy them from marriott for employees and customers and got cut off from purchase due to excessive redemption percentage. Marriott apparently won't tolerate redemptions of more than about 15 percent of the vouchers they sell.

I tried this rate at a couple of properties where it was available. As usual with this and some other promos, other available rates at those properties were considerably less expensive, even factoring in the bonus bucks. I'm not saying this will always, or even usually, be the case, but buyer beware. As mentioned in other threads, when you are given the bonus bucks at the front desk, be sure to check the expiration dates. I have been given bonus bucks that expired in as little as three weeks.

Great to use with the Getaways offer of April 11th!!!!!!!!!!!! Not including AZ or NM where I need stuff (or CA, where I live).

Saw this too. Unfortunately, it's very limited as to which hotels, even within the states listed: there are only a few select locations where this applies. Be sure to verify that the hotel you're looking at participates at the site.

First World Problem Alert: Bonus Bucks Stupidity

I had an expiring WN award, a WN companion pass, and $100 in Marriott Bonus Bucks. So, my wife and I decided to go on a deeply-discounted long weekend getaway.

We decided on New York City. I called Marriott Reservations as instructed on the Bonus Bucks coupon, read the agent the coupon information, and based on that booked me at the Jersey City Courtyard for three nights (it was $150-$200 cheaper than Manahattan for the weekend, and just a 5-minute PATH ride away).

I checked in last Friday, and gave them the bonus bucks. The next morning, they gave them back to me, refusing to take them.

I was unhappy with the way they handled the situation. They refused to budge, MI refused to budge, CY refused to do anything whatsoever, even though I had already flown to New York, checked in and slept a night at the hotel before they refused it. They insisted on charging full price for the night. I decided to check out in favor of the New York Marriott Downtown for the other 2 nights (~$60/night more, so its cost was similar with BB as the CY without BB, plus it was in Manhattan).

Now listen, I understand if they want to restrict a BB coupon to full-service Marriotts. That's their prerogative. But (a.) spell it out CLEARLY in the coupon, and (b.) don't blame me when your staff books me in a hotel that doesn't accept the coupon. They should have made me whole, and did not -- I was even accused of lying by Customer Service. (My response: You think after 400+ paid nights without incident, I've decided just now to start lying to you in order to use a Bonus Bucks coupon?)

Here's a fax image of my Bonus Bucks coupon (click on the image to zoom -- it's at least somewhat legible). My point is: there is nothing in the coupon that excludes Courtyards. All BB have different terms. Previous $100 BB said "JW Marriott, Marriott and Rennaissance only", whereas this one said "all Marriott Hotels and Resorts," which seems like Courtyards should take it, and as I stated earlier, Marriott booked it themselves and confirmed it was eligible for Bonus Bucks.

When I called into the BB line yesterday to express my frustration, they said they have the same frustrations with the wording.

They are considering whether or not to deposit points in my account as compensation. Their mistake cost me $120. To me, that is a huge deal.

Anyway... bottom line, don't count BB as future money no matter how often you stay at Marriotts. You have to book expensive rates and never have a guarantee the hotel/MI will honor them.

DJ_Iceman Jun 16, 2011 11:32 am

No doubt, that sucks. But I think there's some shared blame here. After 400 nights, I'm sure you're aware that Marriott uses the term "Marriott Hotels & Resorts" to refer to their full-service properties.

It sounds like you moved to a better hotel in a better location anyway, and hopefully enjoyed the rest of your weekend getaway. My advice is to chalk this one up to a lesson learned, and move on.
