Just got back from an 8 night stay - we booked two adjoining rooms and used 8 - 100 Premium Pound coupons for the stay. This cut our bill in half for the trip.

I was disappointed with the property, especially after having a great 7 night stay there 2 years ago, pre Hurricane Wilma. I don't normally nitpick hotel rooms, but this resort has definitely lost it's luster. I assume a lot of it, if not all, is due to the hurricane and the allocation of funds to fix the structures rather than upgrade rooms.

I would like help with one thing...
The last night of our stay, we could not find my six year-old daughter's bear that she sleeps with. She's probably missed less than 3 nights sleep without this bear since receiving it as a gift a few weeks after birth. Our guess is that house keeping took it while changing the linens, since it was probably mixed in with it somewhere. We checked out at 5am, so there was not a lot of time to check with housekeeping and lost and found, but we still attempted. I've called twice since returning home and so far no pink bear sightings by the staff. I don't want to rake the the hotel over the coals for this, but it is causing a lot of heartache to a 6 yr old girl. Any suggestions? Again, I'm not looking for a free trip, cash, etc, but shouldn't the hotel take some blame and responsibility for this. I don't feel that a "sorry, we can't find anything" is good enough.

i got one from london it was valid till year end. The great part was the room was only 93 pounds a night I only stayed one night and got 100 pounds for a future stay. The only note i would add is be careful because when I called they said they were offering on for one night stays but when I checked it they were at first not going to give it to me. They said I had to talk to the manager in the morning. So when I intialed the rate I indicated on the paper I was only paying if I recieved my bonus bucks if not the rate was invalid. Needless to say there was no problem I checked out the handed me the certificate and I was off on my way. I may try to use it soon because the dollar is starting to gain a little strength

Thanks for coming back to report on the resort.

I've stayed there before and liked it so I am disappointed to hear that things appear to have gone downhill. I have a reservation for the JW next door for next Feb so I am hoping I won't be disappointed there.

As far as the bear, I really do not think you can blame the hotel or housekeeping staff. My daughter has a special "blankie" that has gone on every trip with us since she was born. Blankie is white and could easily be lost in the sheets. Every time we leave the room, I make sure that my kids have cleaned everything off the bed that we don't want to get lost. That includes not only Blankie but socks, clothes, IPods, phones, etc.

Same goes for the pile of towels we make in the bathroom. If someone throws an odd sock in there, I expect we'll never see it again.

Unfortunately, housekeeping can't possibly be expected to go through every sheet and towel in every room. (Then guests would complain that they aren't working through rooms fast enough!) I think that as a guest it is our responsibility to ensure that nothing of a 'valuable' nature is left where it could be easily tossed. (You wouldn't leave your wallet in the bed, for example.)

Hopefully, your daughter will be able to replace her bear with a close replica.

Taking into account the current exchange rates, it's interesting that the coupon is worth:

US$200 in the U.K
US$134 in Continental Europe and Ireland
US$84 in Australia
US$100 everywhere else

OK, it's now been two months from the incident that I posted immediately above. Any bets on how soon I should expect my $100 Bonus Bucks cert? ;)

{She gave me a business card from the hotel, with a note written on it about the transaction. }

why not call and see? of course you believe that no furthur follow up on your part should be required, but get off the high horse and make a phone call if you're looking for information.

High horse? Who is on a high horse?

I planned to wait and see and THEN call, anyhow. @:-)

Use of Bonus Bucks on Buy 2 get 1 free rate?

I am staying at the Paris Marriott Rive Gauche on a buy 2 nights get 1 free rate. Since I AM paying full price for 2 nights, can I use a bonus bucks/pounds coupon?

dayone Jul 14, 2007 8:53 pm

Yes. If "full price" is a public rate, you shouldn't have a problem.

Have you checked to see if there is an available Package rate that might be lower than "full price"?

Unfortunately no, B1G1 (or in this case B2G1) are not public avail rates, they are qualified discounts however if you are willing to pay for the 3rd night you would have you problem using them

pinniped Jul 15, 2007 5:55 am

Probably depends on the specific B2G1. Some B2G1's are completely publicly available (HPR comes to mind). I've used PP/BB with them on numerous occasions.

I've also used PP/BB with a 3-night EEO stay. (That is, the B1G1 cert plus an additional paid night.) Many threads here about that - it's probably in the gray area but I've never been disallowed the PP/BB usage.

BGO's are always qualified...but as you noted that doesn't mean the hotel wont accept it even though the rules state that it will not be accepted

Hello Joelfreak,

Just take a Bonus Buck to the Front Desk and ask them to apply it to your room folio. They either will take it or won't take it.

In my experience, I have reserved a 2-night stay with the Buy 1 Get 1 Free printout certificate and with the price of the room being at the M11 rate. In addition, I have used a Bonus Buck (BB) on the same stay without any problem. I just ask them to apply the BB to my folio and I ask the clerk for a printout afterwards for my file.

Obviously, all hotels will not take them on a special rate or discount, but sometimes they will.

Renard Jul 15, 2007 9:28 pm

I've used Bonus Bucks on a B2G1 free rate. Whether it was a gross violation...or totally allowed--I have no idea. YMMV
