Ironically, one of my pet peeves is the table tents and plastic placards that completely cover the desk in many hotels now. Removing them is part of my routine:

Step 1 -- unplug the clock radio
Step 2 -- all papers, notices, placards, etc, are swept into an open drawer.
Step 3 -- unpack

Also used to be commonplace, at least in the UK, to need your keycard to turn on the lights and air conditioning. Might still be, I don't have any direct experience since 2001.

Eco-themes, as you call them, have been around since the 70's, at least.

I for one don't need new sheets every day, and I can make a towel do for more than one shower. If we're reducing the hotel costs at the same time it's fine with me. It may not show up in the bill this week, but will help keep rates from going up faster.

Remain calm, oh sensitive one.

I speak generalizatons; you may have your exceptions to your heart's content. All I'm saying is, if you poll by age group, I'm certain you'd find that a higher percentage of baby boomers and "greatest generation" are upset about losing daily sheet changes than gen x and gen y; and that some of the causes of this include the increasing exposure to eco-themes that have happened in younger generations. No so much by parents but by schools, I think.

If you're a baby boomer or older and okay with losing daily sheet change, that's great. So am I. I'm talking about perceptions in general.
