Apparently, I was incorrect in my overall assessment of the situation.
Sorry to have troubled you.

For being Marriott's "designed for business" hotels, it's interesting how some of these are not in traditional business destinations - Kauai and the Caribbean locations in particular.

Manukau? That's great! I hope it's near enough to AKL and has a courtesy car service. This would be the first NZ Marriott property that I'm aware of...

Surprisingly, Manukau is the third-largest city in NZ. It's located just south of Auckland, about 15-20 kms SE from the airport.

I'm with you re. development in NZ, but it's nice to know that there will be a decent hotel not far from AKL. The Sheraton in Rotorua hasn't been a Sheraton for at least two years, and the one in AKL was scheduled to leave SPG as well (perhaps already has). So a CY is most welcome!

This is slightly off topic, but do these new international CY have free HSI?

All Courtyards are required to have some connectivity, free of charge, to the internet. Some have gotten around this mandate by having computers in the lobby or a meeting room.
Expect some major upgrades to Courtyard services... they will soon be a bit more like "Marriott" than you expect as there is a push to help differentiate between FI's and CY's.
They are expected to pull 40 Courtyard flags by the end of next year, I have a feeling they will be rebranded to Fairfields.

[QUOTE=RevenueManager]...there is a push to help differentiate between FI's and CY's. QUOTE]
From what I've seen, FI ALREADY differentiates itself from CY:
FI--no coffee in rooms; ice machine only on lobby level; "aged" furniture and decor, just to name a few
CY--coffeemaker in every room; no need to travel to the lobby to get ice; CY Bellevue and CY DFW Airport South have the new CY decor and furniture...
