I have been choosing Spring Hill for 2 reasons. First and foremost are the bonus points as previously metioned. I don't usually have long stays and use Marriotts for the points.
Second and almost as important is Spring Hill's are usually newer hotels. I've stayed at some of the older RI's and they are very load. I've had a few stays on lower floors which I could not sleep with people walking above me with the floor creaking and plumbing noises such as draining water every time a toilet flushes or sink turns on. This happened more than once.
Just my 2 cents...

Thanks for the info about the Windy Hill CY. I work near there and thought it was one of the early ones.
BTW, one reason I prefer RI over Springhill and Towneplace: we put our son's travel baseball team up at the RI in Huntsville this past weekend. It's one of the newer designs, 3 floors, outdoor pool, patio and sports court. The team had a blast. Lots of outdoor area to run around and not bother the other guests. Good breakfast with fresh fruit, hot breakfast meats, the ubiquitous waffles. Even had a team cookout, end of school celebration and pool party Saturday night (and a lot of beer drinking by the dads).

Just wanted to add an update to my comments above about Towneplace. I stayed at the one in Bedford, TX a few weeks ago, and the bedroom and living area were 2 separate rooms, with a double door between.

A question on one minor feature: is the cable in these properties typically part of the same system Marriotts and Courtyards typically use, with a very, very limited channel line-up (usually does not include Bravo, Spike, History, etc.; may only carry one or two of the major news channels such as CNN, HNN, MSNBC, CNBC; and may not have UPN, Fox, or WB network channels)? That is one frequent gripe I have with Marriott properties.

My experience is that you have, generally, 40+ channels at TPS.

Anyone know what an "Exception Studio" is in TownePlace terms? (It's the Downtown Minneapolis TPS, if it matters.) The description is very vague, but I believe it might have a separate office area in the room.
