Are others getting this message when signing in? Maybe they are finally fixing lifetime points…

I logged in fine.
I doubt they would take it down for planned maintenance during evening/later evening hours in peak US/Europe time zones.
I'm guessing an outage, now recovered, and that's standard "out of order" language.

IME, the Marriott login function can be wonky on the new site.
If you are trying to login using the small window on the upper right corner of the main page, it will sometimes indicate unable to sign in.
If so, click on the menu "hamburger" on the top left, and select "login" or "my account" from there (I have seen both terms).
It takes you to a dedicated login page, which has always worked for me.

It happened to me a few days ago. Live chat window opened as I was attempting to sign in multiple times. As it turned out,they were updating their system and no longer allowed the same email to be associated with 2 MR accounts. Once they changed one of the accounts to a different email address,all has been fine.
SPG did a similar thing a while back,so perhaps they are readying to complete the merge of the accounts
