When does Marriott Rewards claim points?

I booked a reservation using Marriott points, and I can see the reservation in "My Trips". However, it also says I still have the same amount of points that I had before the reservation. When does Marriott redeem the points?

Yes, I've logged out and several days have passed. I have thought about trying to transfer the points to my Starwood account to see if it would actually work

Go into your reservation and make sure that it has an e-certificate attached. If for some reason it didn't order a certificate, it will give you a warning message and ask if you want to order one.

I just went in and ordered an e-certificate and it deducted my points. Thanks for the help!

I have a Marriott Rewards reservation booked for June 2018 at the Ritz Carlton Barcelona for which I currently don't have enough points in my account. Can I wait until just before the hotel stay begins to transfer the points into my account? The points transfer will be from my already linked SPG account so it will be instantaneous. Also, once I have transferred in the points, will the e-certificate be generated automatically or will I have to order it?

You have to have the points and request the certificate 10 days before the beginning of the stay. The site should have shown that information when you made the booking.
