I don't see it in my account, and have no intention of signing in anywhere else should it be a scam.

So you don't have to go elsewhere than logged into Marriott.com, but you do have to look elsewhere than under "my promotions" (at least for now).
Why they can't at least take that "banner" and put in on your "my promotions" page totally baffles me. But they do have almost two weeks to fix it.
Meanwhile, over at IHG, Hilton, and Choice, promos at each of those started September 1 but on September 1 there was no mention of the new promo on any of those hotel sites, you have to find it on FlyerTalk. So it seems to be an emerging fad amongs various hotel programs to create promos for which you have to register but then hide those promos!

This promo rewards me. I'm a very occasional Marriott guest, usually when there's a promo or something weird comes up. However, I do already have a stay coming up in Copenhagen so I will shift one more stay to them to get the 5,000 points ^

Try to decide if I should choose the stays or nights for the promotion. New to Marriott, not sure how this works.
I will have a 3-night stay from Sept 13-Sept 16. However, this promotion is for "stays or nights made between Sept 16, 2016 and Jan 15, 2017".
Will I get credit for 3 nights or just one night for the stay? Thanks.

Do you usually have to re-book for these promotions if you already has 2 stays booked prior to signing up?

I'm MR PL, haven't gotten a e mail on this yet. Right now, I've already made it for 2018 (but that will probably be my last year as a PL, I'm close to lifetime AG though).
IME, there are several different offers made. The offer the OP got was really weak IMO. I mean, as a PL, at the right property (one I'm a regular at), if the slightest thing goes wrong, I can get the GM to toss me at least 5K points, and usually 10K. I should also add that some franchisees are doing you the biggest favor taking your money and refuse to give anything up when they really screw up. IOW, it works both ways.
However, let me add, that in my experience, with redemption rates and hotel rates, the company is doing a lot better. People are spending money again. It's really tough to shop rates in the LA/OC market these days. So, if the OP's option is the only one, it wouldn't surprise me.

I am platinum premier, but still have no promotions in my account. But I honestly am not too upset as this promotion is awful, I will sign up for the 2 stays and have that done by September 17th and be done. I am already platinum for next year, and honestly PP is meaningless: half of the front desk clerks don't know what it is and a couple even thought it was lower than "regular" platinum.
And maybe it's familiarity breeds contempt, but recent stays at Marriott properties have been filled with issues (2 hotels where my room door wouldn't close and lock, tv didn't work, bathroom not clean, etc.) and Marriott corporate doesn't seem to care, so I think the rest of the year is either Hilton or Hyatt. Next year I will see how I feel.

I have a list of "full service" properties I wont stay at anymore, basically because they don't train people anymore and nobody gives a hoot.
But back to the point, this seems to be a very challenging and diminished value Bonus. Every year you see how many properties go to the next higher Tier, and maybe one going to a lower, making it more expensive on points, and less opportunities to use Tier 5 Certs. So, like the airlines, get less, pay more, devalue loyalty, be like Kayne West "Put the money in my hand right now" as that is all that apparently matters anymore.

LOL
When I inquired about why my registration is not showing up in my account, here is the response from Marriott:
We have just been informed that due to system update error, the registration for the 2016 Fall MegaBonus Promotion has been delayed.
We are actively working on resolving these issues but we do not have a time frame of when this will be completed. I apologize for the delay.

Anyone unable to load the registration site?
http://joinmarriottrewards.com/PickYourBonus
All other websites work for me, and I've tried on two ISPs, so suspecting an issue with the Marriott site.
