they have not even mergered the 2 companies (mid 2016) let alone started to merge the loyalty programs (2017+).

So, I just called in to find out if I had indeed been comped another year and they said yes. The rep actually said that they have a program that if you stay 160 nights in 3 years that they will comp you to Plat status around the first week in December. Thanks MR!!!

Since I started this yearly-reoccurring thread this year, I was about to reply with some useful info but jjglaze beat me to the punch. I also called MR to confirm, which they did, and was told the same numbers. I had heard (through this forum) about them looking at a three-year period, but that was the first time I had heard specific numbers. The rep told me that I was "tenured" (I've been Platinum for probably 4 straight years?) and because of that, if I have 160 nights over a three year period, they extend the Platinum.

Let the calculations for next December start now (since every year I never think I'm going to hit 75 nights)!

Does 160 nights include credit card nights?

I'm thinking the same thing...I am above 250 nights (yes including some rollover), called the rewards line, and was told my Plat Premier status is set to expire in Feb 2016....but she also told me that they haven't crunched the numbers on Plat Premier qualification for 2016 yet.

No message for me at 73 nights, but I asked about status for next year when calling about something else. They told me I was renewed through 2017.

I had another 2 nights for the year anyway :)

Did they give any indication as to when they were going to be crunching those #'s for PP? If I recall, wasn't in around 1/15 this year?

101 nights and nothing. Should still be getting my B'day night too I think...
Been PT for the last 2 years running.. would be nice to hit Premier , but that's not likely it seems

One thing it could be (very left field) - maybe they've already gotten a very raw dump of SPG data and have done some initial analysis and realized which people have status on both and have begun comping it?

Regulators would look very unkindly on this. They are competitors in the marketplace. Until a merger is closed, that doesn't change. Mid-2016 at best, if at all.

For those who have done M&A work, this makes no sense at all.

Not to mention they aren't doing anything different than they did last year, or the year before.

Absolutely. While the "regulators" are going through their charade of an anti-trust review, employees on the 2 sides are reminded daily that it is a competitive business as usual and not to confer with the other side. Of course, any important moves & decisions are on hold & deferred and discussed under wraps.

Sadly, I've been through a few of these. Generally, there are no winners except for the upper management that bails out...

I don't think having some rollover makes any difference. I had a bunch of rollover last year, hit 131 nights and got PP for the first time. I also had about $40K on the Marriott CC. That doesn't get mentioned much, but I think the CC spend must be part of the calculation.

That said, I will finish this year with 118 nights. Since I shifted about 64 nights to my wife's account, along with all the CC spending to work on her LT status after I made LT Plat, I will be very surprised if my PP is renewed.

Platinum renewal message?

There seems to be a perception on here that if you are plat in 2015 and don't make 75 nights then you drop to Gold and any nights over 50 will rollover. Well I am sorry to say that that is not how it works as far as rollover nights are concerned. If you for example made 65 nights and drop to Gold you will NOT get 15 nights roll over. You will start the 2016 year at ZERO nights. Rollover only apply for plats who remain at plat and for nights over 75 in the current year, and golds who make more than 50 nights but less than 75. They remain gold and have the balance above 50 roll over. Additionally 2014 nights that rolled over into 2015 would not be counted either for 2015 nights to rollover into 2016.

For example if you were gold in 2015 and had 15 roll over nights from 2014 and stayed 40 nights including CC nights the your total for 2015 would be 55 nights. Then you would start 2016 with zero rollover nights but renewed as Gold. That is 55-50-15 = ZERO.

I hope CC spend is part of it. I spent about $24k on MR Biz card and over $100k on the Ritz card this year.

Well I don't think I ever got a renewal message, but I got the paperwork in the mail after only having about 67 nights this year (did have a bunch of CC spend recently which might've given me another couple nights if it's not calculated yet). This is my first year missing it after being Plat the last 4 years (never really had crazy night totals, usually high 70's including rollover and CC nights).
