You're PLT and have 66 nights - what renewal message are you expecting to receive?
|
that they were comped to P without fulfilling the required 75-nights.

Nothing for me yet. I have 182 nights this year with 11 more on the way. Hope I make it! :D

I had forgotten about PP renewal until just now. :(
Tonight is my last Marriott stay for the year. I'll end with 170 nights, 2 smallish events, and somewhere around 500K points earned. 2016 will be my fourth year in a row as a PP. I seem to have noticed comments in other threads that many people revert back to Plat after the third year as PP. Wonder if I will meet that same fate? |
Being semi-retired, a former PP. now LT P, I guess there will be no Marriott joy for me again despite 111 nights.

Nicely done! I didn't do the points thing until this year. Previously, I had no program loyalty and always earned airline miles instead of points *dumb*. I had 53 lifetime nights and 0 points with Marriott. This year, I will end with 130 nights and almost 800,000 points earned. Maybe one day I can get PP lol.

You are well on your way. It doesn't seem that there is a hard and fast qualification point for PP, the general rule seems to be at least 135 or so nights in a year, and at least one additional connection with Marriott - typically event planner points or MR branded credit card. There are plenty of other threads here that cover in far greater detail that may aid you in your quest. Good luck! ^

I am going to finish the year at 74 nights and I have never been platinum. Any chance they will still give it to me?
|
I'm at 151 nights this year, but still don't see the message? Why am I an evaluation case?
|
I haven't "technically" re-qualified for platinum in the last two years. 67 nights in 2013 and 49 nights 2014... Yet they "gave" me plat both years. My plan again is to stop at 40-something nights this year for the rollover, as I tried to last year. I've got the assumption that they don't want me to roll over the nights and give out plat as a way to deny the rollover nights. Pure speculation, however.
Long story short... Those qualification minimums mean nothing. |

I got the message this afternoon too (that I've renewed for Platinum). I'm at 69 nights (but have insanely high spend this year, average of ~ $350/night). I called MR and asked straight up if they had comped my status and the Platinum agent said yes.
One thing it could be (very left field) - maybe they've already gotten a very raw dump of SPG data and have done some initial analysis and realized which people have status on both and have begun comping it? Not a whole lot would go into getting that done on a very basic programmatic level. |

48 nights (20 which were hotel nights, 14 which were rollover) and got my Platinum renewal today on the website. Pretty surprised and unexpected... but:
1) This isn't yet counting the 15 free Marriott Credit Card nights (so really, it should be 63 nights). 2) I'm SPG gold (granted, due to AMEX) and stayed 15 nights (8000$ spend). I suppose if they are already merging accounts on a 'soft' basis, this makes sense. 3) Been a plat for 8 years now with a 600 night total (which is basically 75 nights/year). So doing the math and considering these factors, the "comp" make sense. It also means I'll be starting next year with 0, and if I stay/spend as much as this year, I wouldn't even hit Gold. So I'm definitely being put on notice. |
