So, you may move out, but many more will move in, and I bet that most of those who say they will move on are just venting and will likely do no such thing, probably even you.

If you want to maximize the number of rollover nights, I would stay at the RI. The town sounds like it does not have a lot of lodging choices.
Yes, you give up the possibility of earning in another program, but I would be more interested in getting lifetime status first. I have lifetime platinum with Marriott, and I can pick and choose more easily now that I do not have to worry about requalifying every year.
